Arrggh - de-dion disaster!
After spending 2 years scared of welding up my de-dion axle in case i messed it up. I've started.
Got the brackets (they came in two halfs 'L' shaped) welded within .5mm of the size they've supposed to be.
Welded these onto the de-dion axle tube and got around .5mm of 'twist' in the axle.
(to say i'm happy is an understatement, i pontificate far too much hence on year 8 but this is a great step forward after messing up my capri
axle by getting the holes about 3mm out).
Anyway, get ready to weld on the bits the brakes bolt too and ...........
I CAN ONLY FIND ONE SODDING MOUNTING PLATE.
Hunted high and low, phoned the parents (they where down the other week) and i've got no idea.
So if anyone has seen it, or knows where it is PLEASE tell me.
(comments like "in the last place you look" will not be seen as funny as its not been in the last place i've looked twice now!)
So close to getting a rolling chassis and therefore able to weld on the roll bar and then paint and then ........ (you get the idea)
(i do appreciate you lot can't help but i'm miffed, been up since 5:45 with work and this was what was making my 'week' until
an hour ago)

I normally turn round to SWMBO and ask her "If you were an idiot called Steve where would you put XXX"
The answer is normally right about 60% of the time - even for stuff in the garage (where she ventures only to raid the freezer)

you hid it under your pillow so the locostbuilder fairys will come and give you a pound
failing that forget about it for a week or so try concentrating on another part of the car(i realise this is hard) and it will turn up when you least
expect it and all you'll say is " oh thats where you've been hiding"

Don't panic Mike, I'll see if i've got a spare lurking somewhere, if not i'll run one but it wont be for a week, the Cornish
surf is calling and I'm long overdue a rest.

Ok, i've got ghosts.......
honestly, i've got ghosts.
I looked in the cupboard (why else do you have cupboards in your dinning room if its not to store Arc welders, brake lines and other car bits).
In fact i looked in the cupboard twice ..... went for the third time thinking "sure its sodding well in here" and ........
There is sodding well was, ontop of everything. I honestly don't get it, but i'm almost a happy bunny. I stop using the angry grinder at
8pm to avoid upsetting the neighbours so i just got to dance around and look happy instead of making cut outs for the bolt holes and welding it
together.
anyway Wooohoooo
(blooming shame i'm off to the edinburgh fringe this weekend, i could have the car on its wheels again if i wasn't )

I recently spent from 10am until 8pm searching for a piece of my speedometer clock internals. I had taken it to bits to rewire the rest of the
binnacle and I had not left the work bench at all during the morning from starting taking the thing to bits, to losing the clip. I needed to finish
the binnacle to get the car running and I couldn't think of anywhere that would have such a thing available NOW! I searched the whole bench.
Then the floor. Then I took my clothes off to see if it had become entangled (in hindsight, I should have put then back on). I then started at one on
of the bench and did a fingertip search, inch by inch along the bench, ntil everything was off the bench and put into boxes.
I then did the same for the floor.
I then did it all again. Then I started to empty the tool box. Then the tool cabinets. Then the shaelves that were reachable.
It drove me nutty and I was beginning to think I had gone totally mad. Then the phone rang. I picked up the cordless phone out of its wall
'holster' and the clip was stuck to the speaker magnet on the back of it. A whole day wasted but I did get to practise my swearing,
mumbling at myself and shouting at folks.

Recently spent 3 hours alternately searching for an item, I cant even remember what it was now, and cursing the other half for "tidying it away
somewhere" and sods law says it was in the place i had already looked for it
Its psychological. You are that focussed on it and conviced you've lost it that you actually develop a blind spot to it

I recently spent 20 minutes looking for my favorite pen at work. Couldn't find it anywhere. Ramsacked my room to try and find it. Finally went
to scratch my head whilst thinking, found it behind my ear...... Doh....
