gasket paper / gasket paste advice

if i make paper gaskets for idle air control valve and tb to inlet manifold, what thickness of paper do i need and should i use any gasket paste?

I use to use heavy construction card aquired from work for sealing carbs on cars and makng loads of gaskets, I'd rub in grease to protect it from getting damp from fuel and sticking. worked perfectly. if the surface is well machined and doesn't rock against each other then thin card would do.

I just buy proper gasket paper from my local motor factors - they have it in various thickness's
