Urgent: Locost in Kent/East Sussex
I'm in the process of selling my Fury and have spotted a potential project in the form of a part finished Ron Champion locost.
Does anyone in Kent/East Sussex have one I could sit in to check I fit before I splash the cash so to speak? I'm 6'3"
Thanks
Hugh

Thanks folks, looks like work commitments are going to prevent me from getting to any of you before the auction finishes.
Is 6'3" normally a problem in a book car?

I'm 5'6 and looking at a lot of racers around me at 6 ft plus, they fit into their cars quite easly

I would say it was marginal. It depends on whether your height (over and above the midgets who designed these cars) is. If it's in the body then
you should be OK, if it's in the legs then you are going to have a problem.
I'm 6'4" and used to share a car with another guy my height, and whenever I got in it I wold have to adjust the mirror by quite a
bit

I am 5ft 6ins my seat back is about 3ins think and I only just reach the pedals properly.
There's always away round these thing , Lotus/Caterham extend the drivers footwell forward a good few inches.

Hi.
As Ernie above has said there are a couple of racers who are well over 6Ft. If you take your average height driver and sit them in a book chassis you
will find there is usually a good amount of space left behind the seat.
The other thing that limits the height and fitment is whether they have used a floor mounted pedal box or a top mounted one. The top mounted ones
sometimes take up more room IE reduce leg room. Most floor mounted ones are quite tight to the front baulk head offering more room.

Be wary of setting too much store by anecdotal evidence of various tall drivers who manage without difficulty. As I said above it all depends on
your particular physiology, and that won't necessarily be the same.

Hi.
Or i could put it another way. I have actualy made chassis to the book for racing. Where 6Ft plus drivers can be seated comfortably. I have also made
custom seats and rollcages for 6ft plus drivers racing ST/aries and MK book chassis. So the comments above are from actual experience of working with
6ft plus drivers.
If that's enough anecdotal evidence for anyone interested.
Cheers Matt
