Fitting of central rear view mirror...
Ive just paid a £1 for a Renault Espace rear view mirror from my local scrappie which im happy fits alll the requirements, E1 marked etc.
The only thing im not sure of is how to secure it to make the tester happy. Is it sufficient to bond it on or should i bolt it on?
Cheers,
Steve.

Assuming you've got a screen, then I would have thought bonding should be fine, seeing that's how most tintops have their mirrors fixed
nowadays

You check the spelling but not the content
No, no screen for SVA and then aero screen after.

You've lost me there!?
Anyway, screen or no screen, as long as it looks "permanent", either bonding or bolts should be OK. I used a suction cup mirror which
passed SVA, but others have failed on that, so it is still open to interpretation.

Ah! I thought you were referring to me, so I was confused!
If the mirror is the only thing you are worried about you shouldn't have any problem

When you got the Espace mirror did you get the mounting boss at the same time?
If so you can use a contact adhesive to fix it to the glass, just don't use superglue, that will crack the glass.
Imagine what it would be like if there were no hypothetical situations.

I did get the mounting boss but without knowing i was doing so at the time. I just wrenched it off the screen bringing some of the glass with it
When i got it home i sliced off the sticky pad with the glass stuck to it and thought about getting another pad from the local dealer but decided
against it. I then drilled and tapped an 8mm whole and bolted it on. Doesnt look that bad and this way i can change it for something a little racier
after the SVA.

Yes, even if it doesn't actually show anything. Stupid rule, but enforced strictly.
Think someone here mounted it down on the tunnel IIRC.
