R1 5vy fuel pump

I'm going to have a boss welded on the bottom of my existing tank so I can bolt the original r1 pump in. My existing tank has very little if any baffles at all in, I've been told this isn't an issue as the R1 pump in its design has a type of built in sump?

Anyone any experience of this?

In addition to the above I've just realised the bottom of my tank is not horizontal, it rises approx 1" from front to back.

Should the boss be welded horizontal or will it be ok following the existing profile i.e. making the pump not vertical?

I think the R1 pump has an unusual flange and is not just a bolt in jobbie. I think Martin Kennan of MK engineering does the correct boss or Mac comes to mind.
I have an 05 R1 but it was not supplied with a pump. I went for a kwasaki pump because it was easier to create a flange that was bolt on.
The pump should be in the bottom of the tank.
The 1" fall shouldn't make any difference to it working.

Cheers for that, Martin is doing the work and I'm sure he would have the answers but I only just realised about the slope on the bottom of the tank and wondered if anyone else had any experience.
