Hi guys ,
I have been struggling to perfect the clutch control on my GSXR1000 MK Indy recently so decided to strip out the pedal , cable
and arm assemblies to see if i can improve them
i have found quite a few things , frayed cable , pedal bush siezed etc so am sorting those out but on the pedal itself an additional
hole had been drilled to be used which was further away from the pivot than the original
in my head i would have thought on a BEC set up it would be better to get the cable attachment point as close to the pedal
pivot as possible giving better control in the narrow bitting point area of the clutch travel
have i got that right ? or is it further away better? , what have you guys found working best ?
i have taken a picture and added it to my archive but dont know how to get it in this post , i am sure its easy but just need
pointing in the right direction
thanks in advance
Richard
All te things you manta are not going to help so get them sorted.
The common complaint is of the clutch operation being one or off with little feel in the middle.
You are correct that a hole nearer the pivot of the pedal will mean a better range of control, so try it, but of course at the engine end you still
need to be able to achieve the range of movement needed to fully disengage, so a bit of experiment may be needed.
Make sure if you change hole that the inner cable route to the clevis on the pedal is not going to wear/fray on the cable outer/bushing too
Why don’t you change to a hydraulic clutch?
don’t have to worry about stress on cable and it breaking!
Plus it’s a lot lighter on the foot
I extended the clutch arm on the gearbox end by 50% and it's made a massive difference in how easy the clutch is to use on mine with a R1 engine

Mine has the cable terminating very close to the pivot, clutch is very light with plenty of feel.
