Hay everybody, ive just been trying to fit my nosecone and discovered that its not the same on each side.

Does anybody have the measurements between the cutout hole for the headlight bracket and the face that sits against the the front of the chassis.

I have about 10mm difference in length, which cant be right.

Nearside is 210mm

offside is 213mm

When I fitted my body work on the viento I started by getting the scuttle in the correct place then trial fitted the nose and bonnet so that the overall fit was perfect.

I found the nose cone was slightly different distances from the front chassis uprights but the overall fit was good. The lugs that the nose cone fits onto were also slightly different on each side of the nose cone but by trial fitting everything worked fine.

Just checked my nose cone and there is about 5mm diff in the location of the light cut outs but you would never notice.

My body work came from Grant and Matt ( a long time ago…)

The difference in length of the chassis is a well know problem. I went about it a slightly different way. I fitted the scuttle to give the best fit, then the nose cone for the best fit (cutting off the nearside mounting lug and welding it back on about 10mm further back for its best fit). Then found that I put the bonnet on I had a gap front to rear, however I found that this was taken up by using tadpole trim ( front AND rear ) which I shall glue in position (probably to the nose and scuttle [least problematical that way]).

Doing it the above way assumes that you have welding skills and access to a mig welder.

Same problems: Scuttle didn't fit well (overhung the o/side chassis rail), bonnet isn't the same curve on each side and the chassis / nose cone differences gave me the same issues.

Loose fit the lot and use gaffers tape to hold in place when you mark - If you look if my photo archive I have some fairly up close shots and it all looks like tight shutline finish.
