Solved my Positive Camber Issue
saigonij - 31/8/08 at 01:07 PM

Hi All,

Using stock wishbones, stock sierra hubs and the new style luego mushroom inserts, i was unable to get no camber - only positive camber - which is not what you want at all.

so i raided the old luego style mushroom inserts from another car to see what would happen...

and that solved it. lots of nice negative camber again.

if it aint broke - why change it?

Here is a picture to demonstrate what i mean. Rescued attachment MushroomInserts.jpg

Hi Ian have you got any pictures of the underside of the mushroom where the balljoint bolts, or a piccy of the mushrooms without the balljoint in it so as we can see the difference in the offset of the tapered hole, we could get a load turned up and go into the mushroom farming business.

I think that you will find that on the original (early Luego one) the taper seat centre line goes in at an angle into the top of the mushroom, where as on the later one the the taper seat centre line is vertical to the mushroom centre line. If that makes sense.

Hope this helps.

jolly - yes you are correct.

The tapered hole is very far over to one side, and goes in at an angle almost into the center on the under side.

the design is more chunkier too, which allows the tapered hole to start close to the outter edge - and as a result, allows much more negative camber.

Is the nut seating surface concentric with the taper? If not it may cause problems with the nut seating on one edge.

yes, it is.
