Why doesn't anybody turn a nice WOOD knob?

It would be lighter than alloy!!

Are you pre or post IVA. If pre then I'd worry about the radius of the corner on the underside.

Nice, do you want to turn me one next?

A major advantage of wood over ally (in sunny climates at least) is that the wood does not burn you when you have left the car parked in the sun for a bit.

i could do one for you proby. i`m a precision eng (toolmaker) and am thinking of starting myself a little business if i can generate enough interest for items like this.

Looks cold....!
I had a momo competizione in a few years back and had to use a sock over it all winter so my hand didnt hurt! And that was in cars with good heaters!

I had a Momo Gearknob in a car a few years ago. I forget the model name, but it was a spherical one and quite solid/dense and that was freezing cold too!

Didn't heat up in the sun hardly at all!

My first few gearknobs in KC's like the OP's only much taller never got too hot or cold, and I suspect it was just down to the mass of them...

Then I went over to turned Ali and Carbon and they were the best of all.
Still got one left somewhere (I think!)

there`s not a lot of mass to this one and the ali i used came out of cold storage and didn`t feel too cold at all. i have turned another variant today of this which i like better but cant seem to upload it.

when i was little, we lived in north carolina in america for a bit, my mum had a ford pinto with chrome seat belt buckles and chrome metal piping round the leather (or vinyl?) seats. lovely in the hot sun...
