Thinking of fitting vinyl wrap to the sides of my MK sick of polishing them.My question is how easy is it to do yourself as there are lots of sellers
of the wrap on e bay.Just looking at a standard black vinyl.The only thing I am concerned about is how it will cover the rivets on the side panel.

Go with the 3m Di-noc - just done my rear arches in it and amazing stuff. you can get from carbon mods and they do samples so you can test over the rivets.
I wrapped my whole car in black carbon I drilled out all the rivets covered the panels and replaced the rivets with black ones looks great. I only got
the cheap wrap its fine. I got over 8 meters for under £90 well worth doing. Get a hair dryer soapy water and you will be fine. .
A pin, a heat gun and a soft cloth are all you need to sort rivet heads.
I did my rear panel (was alu) and it worked a treat. Did my tunnel top too colour matched.
Think it cost £15 for the wrap, but buy a felt block, they are best for smoothing without damaging/ creasing the vinyl.
Di-Noc is the way to go, very durable, molds with a heat gun and no bubbles, has tiny channels on the back that lets the trapped air disperse 
If
you get it wrong, reheat, pull it off and refit.

by any chance do you have MK carbon fauxber cycle wings
and is the vinyl a good match?
Also what is the 3M code of the vinyl you used.
Looks great. Of the web it looks like CA-421?

I did my side panels that were rivered.
i made up a punch tool from a piece of bar. i put the vinal on then puched out a hole around the rivet allowing it to lay flat. Just looks like a
black pannel with silver rivets. by far the best way to finish a rivet fixed panel.

How does the Di-Noc stuff behave near areas of heat, ie if applied on side panel near exhausts or on bonnets? Just interested cos if it's applied
with heat will it come off or ripple near a heat source?

Likely, since it's basically ... er, vinyl. Try it with a heat gun and you'll see it crinkle up into a little ball of crap. One thing you have to keep in mind with it, is that when you do the edges, heat will shrink it, so if you have white underneath, it can recede enough to leave some of that showing, looking quite terrible. It really doesn't look the same as real CF, and I don't think, unless they are side by side, they look too bad on the same car. It's different, and can't be confused by anybody who knows what real CF looks like.
That's why I asked, as I know its been used in those areas by some.
