Commitment like that is why I watch rallying and not F1 these days.
So what would you have to do so dangerous that you’d get disqualified and banned? Handstands on the roof? Really that’s the most appalling behavior I’ve seen in any race and the kind of halfwit thing I’d expect to see a bunch of chav’s doing.
My thought was,
bet its a bit hot in there.
As long as your not (or NOT likely too) harming other people be as stupid as you like!
This may have crossed that boundry though!
i bet the rule books dont exclude that.
We have all seen them drive on 3 wheels so manually operating the throttle looks quite enterprising to me. If we want to make it a safe sport they
should introduce speed limits and penalise drivers for dangerous driving (ie sliding around corners).
Albeit an unusual approach - i dont see anything particularly wrong with it (unless it was on a public road section).

Ruley bit was obviously tongue in cheek. maybe they can get him on the helmets and harness wearing type rules - im sure they wont have a seat under
the bonnet!
I bet it was a scary experience for both of them. Guy steering and selecting gears not being able to see too well, guy operating throttle in a
precarious position. If they were racing like that is a bit dodgy, if they were just trying to get back to pits to effect a repair then thats a fine
line. Maybe they read the latest copy of PPC ref the BMW track car and lost a bit in translation!
They'll be fine. The rule book won't be consulted as it is not a Mclaren.
Must have been quite tiring holding the bonnet down though.
How many fans get killed every once in a while when rally cars go off? People are allowed to stand there while the car going sideways is about 10 ft from them! Insane.
Erm...I've done that... but only to move a car from our yard into the workshop.
adrian
Quite common Know a few guys that have done it. Most people try joining the shoelaces together and onto the throttle first
Thinks thats why I like rallying most drivers will do ANYTHING to get back to service.. or indeed out of it.
My personal fav was the concrete post a mk2 escort with busted front end and a land rover, a mixture of ratchet straps and tow ropes and hey presto
the inner wing was pulled of the tyre
Well oil beef hooked.
don't see the issue myself, I knew a bloke who would get people to drive his car up the road whilst he fettled with the timming and carb setup in
real time, those where the days, we lived in the middle of nowhere at the back of beyond, and used to be imortal
