Source for 5/8" UNF die?
tegwin - 18/11/08 at 10:27 PM

Im having trouble getting the nut onto my TVR driveshafts....

The first 9mm or so takes the 5/8" unf nut perfectly... but the rest of the thread is slightly larger and wont accept the nut...

The only way I can see that I can get the nut on properly is to run a die down the thread so its all uniform at 5/8"UNF...

However, I cant find a decent quality 5/8"UNF die... there are a few on ebay ranging from £5- £15..... its only going to be used once...maybe twice...

Probably worth measuring the diameter of the shaft and the thread teeth per inch.A set of thread gauges cost a couple of quid , those and a Zuess chart are a good investment . The shaft may not be UNF? but unless you measure correctly you won't know.
