tomgregory2000 - 25/11/08 at 10:04 PM

im after a new car,
ive got no more than £1500 to spend and want something fun but i have a problem in that im 6'5" and i tend to find all the fun cars are a little small on the inside.
what would recomend?
it does not need to be practical just be some fun

Series III is it?
My friend has a Series and is good but a lil slow but very intrestering to drive, even more with the mud tyres fitted

No idea but I was thinking it had loads of headroom and you should get one with your budget

You can pick up a v8 '90' for that money these days with ease, no contest.

If you want a series Landrover you want the lights inside the wings, a proper one.

To me tintop implies daily driver which to me (at least) means a slow ass Landy is out of the running. Although I have a 70+ mile round trip to get to work, so that does influence things!

tomgregory2000 - 25/11/08 at 10:54 PM

i want more of a fast ish car with a roof, not a land rover, as i said i have access to my mates,
my round trip to work is only 4 miles so most days i cycle it, i also have a 1000cc motor bike for dry warm days and want something for the rest of the time and maybe take it on a track,
or am i asking too much from £1500

[edit] was thinking something like an mr2 but i dont think there is enough room on the inside for me

There are plenty of Jags in the budget. Will outrun most things in standard spec

If I were buying on that budget I'd go for a Xsara VTS.

It has the Mi16 Peugeot engine so 165 HP with lots more potential and handles well as it is basically the same as a 306.

£1500 should get you a cracker.

I'm 6'3" and fit in one no probs.

This one is slightly over budget, but looks nice and probably open to offers.

What about a Renault 5 GT Turbo?

R5 GTT
R5 GTT

Nice hot hatch. IMHO the turbo gives an extra dimension to driving it: always keeping it revved up.

For me, the downside was that after every day of fun with the car there was someting else that needed a fix

Do a hightower. Take the front seats out of a mini.
