Does anyone recognise these bulbs?

Trying to find an LED replacement for these and they're out of my clocks. I "think" the uncapped plastic one might be a 501?

Second one looks like a 5 watt capless available everywhere.

Yes the second looks like a 501, dunno about the first but if your local auto-electric place cant do anything how about just go down to your local scrappy & pull the clocks out of a few cars & something will use the same thing?

the one on the right is a 501 5 watt capless as said i think the one on the left is a 286 sometimes the bulb can be pulled out of the holder sometimes it's a complete unit

Capless is a 501 unless its the 3w version thats sometimes used in dash's. Can't remember the number but I can check tommorow.

Hi, the first dash bulbs can be bought from most autofactors, there are several different types so take yours with you, some come with plastic holders & some bulbs pull out like the 501, the second is a 501, regards Dave.

Thanks guys! I want to replace my bulbs with LED's rather than new bulbs so I'm trying to find a suitable LED alternative.

Will have a squizz at the bulbs to see if I can see a wattage rating but if you could check that'd be fantastic.

They're Green Gauges for anyone who was sad enough to wonder!

Thanks Andy - You're right! Damn hard pull and the tiny bulb did pull out. Huzzahh!

I'll look into if there's an LED replacement for this one but it is tiny tiny!

I have seen led replacements for the little dash bulbs. Theres often loads on the bay. Theyr not cheap. id get some leds and sodler them in to the holder.

As for the 501 capless. Theyr available everywhere in led fom.

Thanks everyone. Quick ebay search has revealed that 501's and 286's are fairly easy to get hold of!

Will order some up and see how they look!

Thanks all again

Are they bulbs or lamps?

McLannahan - 1/12/08 at 10:21 PM

Bulbs it would appear. I've now ordered some 501's and will see howmy clocks look with an LED 501. If it looks acceptable I'll order some 286's to do the speedo and rev. Result.

From memory I think the smaller bulb is 1.2 watts

And how much did you pay for these bulbs? a couple qid each probably.

Pah!! I made my own "lamps" - two white 3 mm LEDs with drop resistor pushed into the hole for the bulb; some neoprene sick to keep it in place. Cost? Pennies.

Tell me it does not work?

(NB I wanted blue lamps and treid various colours but high power white was the only colour that I felt was bright enough.

Not that it matters in this case as your going to LED, but the 3w version of the 501 is 504. Often used in dashes as 5w ones melt the coloured buld covers.
