Hosepipe
Hellfire - 6/12/08 at 10:36 PM

I've had a hozelock multi purpose hosepipe (the green one) for about 15 years now and I'm fed up of it getting kinks and splitting. I'm looking to replace it but not sure what to go for next. I want something that doesn't kink. Any recommendations?

We just use the posh hoseloc stuff.
- You want the stuff with knitted renforcing rather than co-ax. "UltraFlex" i think its called. Or the yellow stuff.

Also, at 15yo, im not supprised its a bit tired. The plasticer does give up after a while.

The "yellow" stuff is generally pretty good. If that fails the "blue stiff" stuff is excellent, if not very pliable...

Hope no-one starts making the green stuff in yellow or blue

Seconded - its flat like tape but actually has 3 bores and despite that, water flow is good. Easy to reel up and store. Very neat.

Actually - I'll edit that. Some are flat tapes that need to be fully extended so that they can 'inflate' as the water flows. Some, as I was describing, are hard and have small bores running through them permanently and they can be used half-wound. That's what I have.

I think the posted link is of the type that needs to be fully rolled out to work.
- People have then on narrowboats, there an arse as you have to fully open them, there an arse becuase they kink and flow is awfull, and there an arse because they cant be rolled back up without a degree of magic!
