graememk - 10/12/08 at 10:44 PM

my brother and his wife sat my 8 year old nephew down tonight and told him santa isnt real......

i think he should of been left to work it out by his self, i know i was and i think i was 10ish when i realised, i feel so sorry for the poor lad.

coozer - 10/12/08 at 10:45 PM

Go round and punch their lights out!

MK chippy - 10/12/08 at 10:47 PM

Just before Christmas!!!!! Could have atleast waited untill new year. poor lad

Dave

Mark G - 10/12/08 at 10:48 PM

I think it would probably have been a better idea to wait untill after xmas.

mistergrumpy - 10/12/08 at 10:52 PM

What about you slip an anonymous pressie under the tree from the fella himself or else there's loads of places around that can send a letter from Father Christmas to him. It can be your little secret

Thinking about it - 10/12/08 at 10:53 PM

My kids worked it out early on. But as a family we kept the majic going for fun. They knew but played along with us, it made it all the merrier.
They still get their sacks out on christmas eve at 15 and 18.

wrigglypig - 10/12/08 at 10:55 PM

Tell me its not true !!!!!
People have told me for years he isnt real I always thought they were lying.

graememk - 10/12/08 at 11:01 PM

i send santa letters out to all my nephews and god children every year, he took his santa letter to school and one of his mates said he isnt real so he asked when he got home and they told him....

i'm really anoyed, i've even called my parents who are shocked at him

Fozzie - 10/12/08 at 11:02 PM

Why tell them at all?

As said they work it out for themselves at some point.....

Childhood is way to short as it is, it's nice to keep the 'magic' there as long as possible.....
IMHO of course......

Fozzie

Hang on......
......So...... who is it who eats the sausage roll and mince pie, and downs a glass of single malt that I leave out for Father Christmas, every Christmas eve when I go to bed ?!?!

Of course he exists...........

welllll, i think thats ok actually.... if your brother just turned around to him out the blue and said, oh by the way.... then that would be pretty poor, but since he asked... if his mates at school are telling him he's not real, then he's knows. theres no point in trying to keep it going imho

austin man - 10/12/08 at 11:07 PM

So its Graham fault then for sending out the letter. No letter no question no let down and your blaming your brother shocking.

corrado vr6 - 10/12/08 at 11:07 PM

Santa isn't real!!

tomgregory2000 - 10/12/08 at 11:08 PM

he's real, he's real, he's real, he's real, he's real, he's real, he's real, he's real

austin man - 10/12/08 at 11:10 PM

I did until I was 28. Polis put a stop to it then.

l0rd - 10/12/08 at 11:35 PM

Oh NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all that effort of sewing a huge sack, rebuilding a fire chimney so he can easily come down and put a locost in it.

All that effort goes wasted now?

Fozzie - 10/12/08 at 11:54 PM

Piffle !!!!!

Of course He is REAL !!!!!!

I am taking a hoard of 'ankle-biters' to see him a week Sunday.........

I will take a picture of him and post it on here!

Fozzie

paulbeyer - 11/12/08 at 12:19 AM

I know Santa is real as my kids go to the NASA web site every Christmas eve and we track his progress around the world. NASA wouldn't make that stuff up.

do they really?! thats pretty cool, but i wonder, do the americans show him going to muslim countries?

DorsetStrider - 11/12/08 at 01:34 AM

I would say this all comes down to your perception of "real".

Is he flesh and blood? No... but then wold you want him to be? Would you really be comfortable with a old fat guy sneaking into your house, eating your food, drinking your booze, all while you are asleep?

Having said that if you look at it another way Santa is absolutely real. How many times have you found yourself doing something especially nice, something that goes above and beyond the call of duty simply because it's christmas? I know I have. In which case Santa is alive and well in all our hearts.

Now where did I put that eggnog?

Richard Quinn - 11/12/08 at 07:40 AM

My God!! and to think of the uproar when a poxy F1 spoiler was posted this year! I know it says that it's not safe for kids to see but this has been the biggest spoiler of the year for me. Just before Christmas too. You miserable bunch of b'stards!!
What a way for someone to find out!

What Fozzie said, my eldest 10 is not stupid but i think she pretends not to say owt for the sake of my 6 yr old daughter and the obvious, prezzies etc.
And who does eat the mince pies, carrots etc?.

mr henderson - 11/12/08 at 08:29 AM

Santa may or may not be real, perhaps a trip to the USA would produce more information.

Fortunately, for me, I'm English, and will be having a visit from Father Christmas as usual

John

MikeR - 11/12/08 at 09:40 AM

So if Father Christmas is visiting you - what will he be wearing and will he drop off?

02GF74 - 11/12/08 at 09:43 AM

.... must be a sign of the credit crunch.

ofcourse he is real, you'll be tellimg me next the tooth fairy does not exist!

Benzine - 11/12/08 at 10:03 AM

Why do parents tell/confirm that santa doesn't exist but they don't mention god at all? It's mad

splitrivet - 11/12/08 at 10:26 AM

Cant fathom out what their motives would be for wrecking a little lads dream, kids grow up too fast these days anyway.
Cheers,
Bob

Pezza - 11/12/08 at 04:45 PM

I still feel slightly guilty after I committed a similar sin years ago.

I had been out hunting with my air rifle back when I was a teen.
I'd bagged a huge bunny and was carrying it back to my parents house by the ears.

The next door neighbours lad, who was only about five at the time asked me what I was doing.

'Ive just shot the Easter bunny' was my reply, holding said rabbit up to show him.

He was upset for weeks the poor little git lol.

Oh no the tooth fairy is definately real... and the next time I catch him leaning over my nephew in the middle of the night I'll kick his tutu clear into next week!

Peteff - 12/12/08 at 12:05 AM

If he's not real who leaves me presents?
