Hi Chaps/Chapeses
Been trying to connect a bluetooth headset to my PC running Vista. The computer sees the device but it won't work, I sure the bluetooth dongle
thingy is working because the pc connects to my PDA with no problems and the headset connects to the PDA with no issues.
Any ideas

Are you connected via WiFi too?
I'm not computer geek by a long shot, but have heard of other people with similar problems with bluetooth and Vista. It seems connecting to only
one or the other. Or disconnect WiFi, connect to bluetooth, and then reconnect to the WiFi.
HTH
Or are you running a 5.1 system? I've had problems running a bluetooth wireless thingy to send music around my house because I run a 5.1 .....
You need to make sure the Vista PC and the Bluetooth headset support the same "bluetooth profiles*".
Makes / models would be good - someone may be able to help.
*profile is essentially a standard device type. For headsets, there are several standards unfortunately.
Second question...
what doesn't work...?
Can you pair the device?
Have you tried setting the device as the default soundcard in Sounds control panel (assuming it exists in Vista?)
Headset is a Iqua BHS-701 it will pair with Vista and shows up on the Bluetooth list. It then asks for driver disk to be inserted which I hav'nt
got, I went to the Iqua website and they don't list any drivers. So am I looking for a generic driver that covers all or am I barking up the
wrong tree. Silly thing is that it works fine with the Smartphone, just did the usual setup for a bluetooth device and entered the passkey and away
you go. Berfore trying to get it to work I did remember to disconnect the phone so as to avoid conflicts.
Oh I have no idea where the 2nd post I did has gone to.
what's your bluetooth dongle, or is it built in? If so, what's the machine?
No name on the dongle although that did come with a mini CD with BlueSoleil software. From what I can tell BlueSoleil is Bluetooth Stack software
which try as I might I can't get it to load, even tried downloading the latest version from their website, still no joy. I thought Vista was plug
and play, more like plug and pray.
I used to use a bluetooth dongle with my old laptop running bluesoliel on XP. Always had problems of it being unresponsive. Used to have to unplug the
dongle and restart the program or restart my phone which is what I was connecting to.
Ive now got a laptop with built in bluetooth and vista and it just connects through windows. Not sure if this is because its built in but maybe try
not using BlueSoliel if you can as I found it rubbish,
Problem now solved, picked up a new Dongle from Tesco £4.29 installed software, pluged it in and now it all works.
