Hi all,
I am interested in starting rallying, but I really don't know where to start. Are there local/regional competitions?
Also, probably a long shot, but could a locost be used? (probably just on the roads?)
James
You'll need to join a local motor club. There are usually several around with some concentrating more on one kind of event or another. Find one
that's into road / stage rallying and they'll sort you out. Good places to start for you would be:

and
http://www.ancc.co.uk/
A locost really isn't the right tool for road or stage rallying, but some events use roads in sufficiently good condition that you might make it
work!
This has come up before on here..
I think your not allowed 2 seaters anymore.
for starting off a 205 is hard to beat and probably buy 1 already prepped cheaper than building a locost!!
dunno about over your way but here the 1.4 class is dead competitve and cheap, I was speaking to a guy (don't laugh) with a ka, was cheap to buy
and prep and the only thing he'd needed to replace it two years was abottom arm and that was his fault!!!!
Have a look at Kirkby Lonsdale MC, Westmorland MC and Wigton MC.
If you are going to use your Locost/Indy why not try sprinting/hillclimbing?
Wigton MC have a well organised series. There is a chap from near you with a Stuart Taylor R1 which is very quick.
Try Barbon Hillclimb James. It's really close to you. Also ur car far more suited to this than rallying.
Hve a look at FLUKE Motorsport pages and the videos, Barbados Rally in the Westfield!
