Any tips for successful cutting of glass?
The plastic windows on my greenhouse have blown out and I have acquired some free double glazed units to replace them with.
Decent method and what cutting device???
Steve

Cutting wheel, one good deep score, tap the glass with the handle, break over something thin like a ruler.
Keep the wheel lubricated with white spirit. Keeping the wheel in a jar with a white spirit soaked rag in the bottom is good

Glass gets more brittle with age and can be a sod to cut, so as said a real good score is needed, and dont despair if yo have a cock up it could be
the glass not you....
BTW, what does the OT bit on the title mean, FS WTD etc easy....

Cheers chaps OT: = off topic. Get it?
If you cut them they won't be double glased any more
Make sure the glass is clean along the line you are going to score.
Will this glass fit when cut as greenhouse glass is ussualy thinner than glass used in double glazing yo may neet to buy different glazing clips if
the greenhouse is alluminium
there is a really easy way to break the score
score it once as normal
turn the glass over
with a soft handle of a pair of pliers
gently press on the back of the score watching the crack go down the score line - dead easy and works everytime

I was shown how to cut glass by my uncle, who used to be a joiner.
The one important bit to remember is that the glass should be broken as soon as possible after you've scored the line - the cutter puts stresses
into the glass that go away fairly quickly. He demonstrated it to me on a spare piece of glass: he made 1 cut and immediately snapped it off cleanly.
He then scored another line in the same piece of glass and we went off for our lunch - when he tried to make the break one hour later, the glass
snapped off-line.
