hi people after some research im planning on a conserity/ extension due to new laws it going to be a single sorty 5m wide by 2m depth and 50 per cent glass.
anyway sorry for going on. What i want to do is draw up some plans for my self and builders to follow can i download free sofwear for doing this on please

Terry - Google Sketchup is free and very easy to use. You can import objects in 3D too (such as fireplaces, windows, lamps etc..)

You can dimension too to give you and your builders some idea of scale.

No problem. There's loads of online help too if you get stuck.

I would start with a rectangle. Push/Pull it into a solid block. Draw a rectangle on the top and push/pull that back down. You should have a basic rectangular room then with no roof.

You can use the paintbucket tool to make each wall from glass as you suggested too.

I'm in the middle of converting my garage into a house and all the drawings I sent to the National Parks and various planning offices, were all done with Sketchup. It was a good way to show how my buildings looked in relation to the surrounding houses, roads and gardens.
I paced the area out, scribbled a few dimentions and got cracking with the Sketchup.

I would advise using the large tool set - it's more buttons but it adds some very useful ones!

View - Toolbars - Large tool set

cant get the sizes of doors that i down load and windows to fit

Make sure you have the large tool set available (see my previous post)

Click on the object you wish to change (your door for instance)

Click on the scale button on the left hand side (NOT there if you don't enable the large tool set!)

You can then drag grow/shrink the object.

Does that make sense?

You could draw them in an ordinary vector drawing package like drawplus free version and put your measurements on manually. I've used it for just the same purpose a few times.

I recently moved from shefford, about 5 doors up from you, I built my conservatory and did not get planning permission as the house still came under a sub clause but cant remember whats its called when we sold the buyers asked for the copy of planning and I got my solicitor to tell them and it all went through ok, mine was 4meters wide by 3 meters deep dwarf wall rest glass... hope this helps.
