Market research time guys & gals.
How many of you have used or searched Amazon to purchase anything ?
Might be worth doing a poll!!!
I have used it quite a few times.
Loads of times.
Phil
hmmm, good point. i don't think i've ever purposely searched amazon to buy something. I'd usually search google or something, then if it shows amazon have it, then i'll look on there as sometimes buy stuff. maybe only bought about 2 things on there in the past year
Most of my xmas shopping came off amazon last year...

the wife does.
dont forget to have a look at Amazon Jersey......can be cheaper
Yup - use amazon quite a bit. Normally good stuff at sensible prices.
amazon are great on sale and service but beware only stick to the amazon site and do not buy of any of the linked sites, amazon have had much grief because they do not vet other shops selling within there own site.
It was one of the first stores I ever did any internet shopping from......so I guess I have been shopping with them for around 10 years...give or take
a year .
Not so keen now they have linked in stores as bob says ^^..... Doesn't stop me from looking though, just not as 'sure' of them as I
used to be.....

bought a lot of the christmas stuff from amazon + my camera & lenses. Didn't buy from linked stores (simple check, if its available via prime
or super saver delivery its from amazon itself).
One thing i liked about them is if something becomes cheaper over the following month & you contact them, they'll give you the difference
back
once they were the only place i'd buy from online but then play.com and a few other now well known sites became cheaper and had faster delivery but for my xmas shopping amazon came up pretty good
regular customer
me too regular, have bought from linked site too without issue
I use it alot but only round birthdays and xmas
Use it a lot for book, not much else. Bought some headphones once.
- Inface i even bought a gallon of degreaser through the amazon market place once becuase it was half the price of anywhere else!
Or inother words, not much, but sometimes.

Use it all year round, for books, CD and DVD/Bluray they are my first port of call. Also got some DVD and CD's from American Amazon with no problems.
Bought around a dozen books or so, never anything electrical though.
Regular customer for books/DVD's and electrical. Both Amazon and their partners and never had any problems.
Did the typical bloke thing at Christmas, ordering items at the last minute and everything turned up in time.
Steve
Have used it many times only for buying books. Excellent service and shipping times.
Yep, buying and searching and they often come up the cheapest. Always search elsewhere too.
I use it a lot, for all sorts of non-book or music items (like my reversing sensors, complete kit for £10). I've recently started using their music downloads, generally cheaper than itunes and not protected at all. Best thing for me is that they use parcel force/royal mail which is by far the most convenient for me if I'm out when they try to deliver.
I'm guessing that Jon is more interested in whether people have bought from traders that sell through Amazon, rather than Amazon themselves.
I did once, bit slow, but OK in the end. Not sure how safe I would feel doing it again, I reckon I would be looking very carefully through the small
print if I wanted to do it again. I would be wondering if Amazon cover payments to traders that don't supply for whatever reason

Jon, thought I would let you know, that on Friday 9th at 9pm I placed 2 orders from Amazon, one was actually a book (The Border Regiment 1914-18) from
Amazon themselves, the other, a usb memory stick, was from an 'outlet' store.
The book arrived at 10.30 this morning (12th)!
The memory stick (from the 'outlet' store) is due tomorrow.....I will let you know if that turns up on time.

I've bought quite a bit of 'other trader' stuff from Amazon, and had no problems. They also have an independent supplier in Jersey called 'indigostarfish.com' who have VERY close links with Amazon - so much so that you can usually get free delivery under Amazon's own terms and you don't get charged VAT (I think they're Amazon's VAT avoidance fiddle).
David, just looked at the dispatch notice, and the usb stick is from indigostarfish.com, so perhaps not a 'proper' trial after all!
...ah
well!

I have used it mainly for CDs and books.
Got fed up getting outbid on CDs on ebay so for similar costs, got them from Amazon.
A few of the books I got were from USA and no silly postage charges like you get on ebay plus a much much bigger selection.
I use amazon a lot, I probably use the traders more than amazon itself, probably 60% of the time, not had a problem with non-delivered items etc,
usually slightly slower post than amazong but nothing to complain about
Use amazon and traders on amazon a fair bit bought a load of New Captain Scarlet goodies for the youngest grandchild -- all very quick delivery only
thing to watch for is postage costs.
Play.com I have used a fair bit also, it used to be only for DVD/CD but recently bought a few computer bits through them delivery took a 8 days as
items came from Jersey.
One company I will never deal with online again is Waterstones --- theydon't give feed back o on order progress if the order stalls for some
reason.
Ebuyer -- I avoid now as they often substitute items and delivery can be too long.

I asked as we are thinking of selling on there but not sure the items we sell are Amazon type items.
A competitor of ours sells on there and has had 4 sales in as many months.
TBH as much as we call eBay and paypal aside from a few problems they have have been a great tool for us, you would not believe the turnover of our
eBay shop, we have actually had the need to source larger premises, pretty good in credit crunch time ?
Selling from a shop as many benefits over the normall seller on there, dedicated phone staff that are actually very helpful and human, ever reducing
fee's as our sales grow, all in our eBay shop is doing very well and I guess the more we pay eBay the more we have sold ?
We pay far less in eBay fee's than we would for a shop front somewhere, we are open 24/7 with next to no overheads and sales 100 fold what they
would be from a shop front.
Amazon, give it a miss for a while we think, thanks for the input.
Yep I had guessed that you were researching other probable places, hence, when I needed to order a book, I ordered something else, just so I could
give you a current honest 'experience' .... It wasn't until David (Jenkins) posted the name of the 'Jersey' store, and said
it was Amazon too, that I realised I wasn't buying from an 'outlet' at all....
.....ah well!
So, what you are saying is having an actual 'shop' within ebay, is better/less grief than the 'auction' bit? That is good news!
I must say that if I do go on ebay these days, I tend to go for the 'shops' rather than the auctions........
Long may your business grow!
