Engine hour meters any locost solutions out there ?
clanger - 11/1/09 at 02:48 PM

Hi All,
I'm looking for an engine hour meter for me off road toy. Being tighter than a gnats chuff I've been looking to see if I can sort one out cheapo.
Most of the commercially available units range between £35+, which seems quite a lot for a digital watch with a few wires sticking out of it
I need an hour meter so I can record the engine run time between service intervals as opposed to mileage.
Any suggestions as to where / how I might be able to sort something out ?
Perhaps I'm just being a tight wad, but I can get a new rear tyre for that and have much more fun trying to kill myself on this

Hi

The other place i see them regularly is in American motor homes wich have the larger generators fitted. The meters are connected to the generators not the main engines etc.

Cheers Matt

What you need is an elapse time indicator we fit them to our computers at work. I think they get them from Farnells

This is the link to the solid state ones we use

Cheers Lads, I knew I could rely upon the locost community for inspiration. I'll do some research
