Just got ready. Overall on and welding class here i come. First session today.

Good luck. The important tihing is to have fun
Yeah, good luck.
My welding course at Brooklands College was one of the best bits of my project. Having got my City and Guilds in MIG welding steel, I signed up again
and did the same qualification for TIG steel.
All the instructors were excellent and really generous with their time.
They then even let me build most of my chassis at the college too.
I suspect a lot of the day students are not so keen to be there so they loved having someone with enthusiasm who was willing to put extra hours in.
Really must go back there to show them the finished car!
Cheers,
James

I did some welding as part of my apprenticeship loads of years ago...
I managed to arc weld my piece to the bench, and a friend managed to put a nice neat hole in his chest with a gas welding rod
Have fun, it's great!
I did mine at Brooklands as well, first week I spent most of the time trying to unstick the wire from the contact tip, separating the workpieces from
the bench, and putting out a flaming magnet. Managed to squeeze in level 1 and 2 MIG, and rush through level 1 TIG in the 12 weeks
There's a list of courses on the MIG welding forum, I think it's been
condensed down into a separate list somewhere else on the site as well

Following my welding experience last night. I have to say, that haveing never tried MIG welding i had a go at it.
Had some trouble in the begining as the bench is quite tall and couldn't keep a nice and constant pace.
I then put the feeding hose over my elbow sort of wrapping it round my hand and I was amazed of my weld.
Too bad that we had to work in pairs as my partner was a complete

Plan for next week is to work alone hopefully as i don't want to waste time.
He also told us that we can do small projects if we have any, but they need to be taken home every time as he cannot guarantee that they will stay
there intact.
