kinda swithering...ive either got to build an indy for sva (kit could arrive in 3 weeks) or, ive found a gorgeous impreza 2 door on pistonheads... bear in mind ive wanted the latter since i was about 10

I'd buy a fully built kit car now.

The IVA is going to push second hand prices up (IMHO).

The thought of summer coming is going to push second hand prices up (IMHO).

Even if you work 7 days a week on it, and all the parts arrive, and you can get the paperwork sorted, I'd be really surprised if you could get to SVA from a standing start in the time you have left.

The Imprezza will be one of a few hundred thousand examples. There will always be another out there for sale!

Is this your only car?

well to be honest you only have 6.5 weeks to apply for an sva. If you have to wait at least 3 weeks for a kit, do you think you could get it done in time? By the way IVA is likely to cost £540! (source: the latest issue of Complete Kit Car)

Or you could get the impreza, fulfil your boyhood fantasy, get it out of your system and build a kit at your leisure.

£540 for IVA How can they justify that? Is the process of approval more involved than SVA?

Phil

Oh, and build the Indy.......

Another vote for indy

Johneturbo - 13/1/09 at 07:03 PM

unless it's a 22b then go for the indy

also to add, i sold my evo5 to build a kitcar and if i had the chance i wouldn't go back. 1,0000 times more fun

The Indy with out a doubt,Ive had a selection of Jap performance cars over the years, some of them rare models, and some with over 400bhp,spent a fortune, making them go faster, and insuring them, and maintaining them, but none of them one anywhere near as rewarding to drive as my Indys,or as quick.
There's also the pride you will feel in building your own car,it may appear a bit daunting having it all to do,and you will have to wait a few months while you build it, before you can drive, but the better weather, lighter nights will soon be here, you will be able to get cracking with the build, and have it on the road in no time

guiness: its not my only car, but its kinda the main one id drive...

ive decided, im going to go for the indy, before IVA!

afj - 13/1/09 at 08:00 PM

£540 my sva was 1 1/2 hours and was £190 maybe the iva will be an all day thing for that price
i say buy the scooby, get bored with its tortoise like performance then build an MK or MNR

What about the BIVA, which presumably most kits will be eligible for?

coozer - 13/1/09 at 08:17 PM

I would go for an EVO 9 first then crash it and use it to build a 4x4 7

well this is a kit car forum so what answer did you expect?

I will give a different perspective.

Go take a look at this wrx or wahtever and tkae it for a spin.

Then think hard as to if it is really what you want. Ultimately it is a breathed-on tin top with a extra wolfs and whistles.

You have driven the MK, which is as raw driving as it can get.

Both of those features are good depending on what it is you want and it is really only you that can decide.....
