People start wars to become rich themselves, it’s a very clever (though brutal) form of robbery. You invade somewhere in the false name of some farcical political / idealistic cause to get the masses to fight (work) for you then steal the other nations money while handing out trinkets to those who have fought (work) for you the hardest. Works all the time WII, Iraq, Africa all off them, it’s the same old scam, why do you think war is such a popular pass time?!? True robbers don’t care who dies so long as they get what they want.

Really I wish my bank worked so hard to get me rich, maybe I could get them to invade some other bank cos they don’t have enough blonde staff working there, since only blonde people can work in banks cos I said so (even if my hair was black ) and I’ll just look after the takings in some secret location

Relating that to Iraq is just nonsense. You think we've plundered the banks and museums? Or indeed taken any of their oil?

I can accept as plausible the argument that the motive of the war was to reduce global oil prices, but not the foolish belief that the aim was to literally purloin their oil reserves.

And of course the soldiers dont see the benefit, that would be like a company paying dividends to employees rather than shareholders.

Wars occur for many reasons, i dont think they sit well in categories like 'national gain' or 'freedom' since there are often many complex issues entwined.

It's not the Americans or the other allied forces in Iraq that are killing so many people, it's the inhabitants.

Who could have known just how thoroughly nasty these excuses for human beings are, that they will happily murder their own kind for some kind of political or religious benefit?

In some ways it's not surprising that the previous Iraqi regime was so repressive, now that that repression has lifted they are killing eachother with gay abandon.
