What a complete bunch o t*ssers & downright crooks!

Been with Pipex broadband for several years, always been pleased with the service, but was getting very pricey compared to what is available
elsewhere. I've been trying to get a MAC code from them since 24/11/08 - they are supposed to generate one within 5 days. So far they have given
me one which was already out of date by the time they gave it me, another which was simply incorrect & didn't work, they then spent another
month sending me round in circles, I would send an email, they would say a code has been generated & ring this no., you ring the no. (premium
rate, surprise surprise) & it directs you to a different premium rate no.
so you ring that & get some idiot who says that there is no
MAC on the system but he will generate one now. Great, can I have the code please? Ah, no, it will be posted to you & emailed within 5 days - yes
that's what you said last time - no Mac arrives, I query by email & get told "We can confirm that your Migration Authorisation Code
(MAC) was already generated.
Due to security reasons. please be advised to kindly contact our Customer Care Team on the number listed below or send us a letter of MAC request
to:"
So you ring the no., which redirects to another premium no. etc etc
It would actually be funny if it hadn't already cost me so much time & money - they are a complete bunch of clowns & crooks. I do finally
have my MAC code after blasting some poor sods head off down the phone this morning & demanding to speak to the supervisor when suddenly my MAC
code just magically appeared on their system. So I check & ask whether I need to do anything else to leave their service to be told "your
phonecalls are dealt with by Pipex Homecall, they are a different company you will have to cancel your contract with them separately" so now i
daren't cancel the phone until my new Broadband is connected & my phonecalls are with the new providor, or you can guarantee they will cut
the phone off & leave me with no line waiting for the new one to connect - so instead I'll finish up paying twice over for a months line
rental, absolutely bl**dy ridiculous!!! I have now voted with my feet & moved the Broadband
service.

I am slightly annoyed!
Sir would you like some fifty meg broadband......and not have a phoneline at
all......linky
Its fast.....faster than most of our computers
we have to sort ports to make it fly
Yep, I got the same kinda nutsack off them when I wanted to leave...

If you take the Hoff out of their last advertising campaign, you are left with Hassle!!!
Seems a ploy with most service providers now, make it as difficult as possible to cancel their service.....
I understand your frustration. I have been with them (Pipex) for 9 years and every time I phone to say I want to cancel they put the price down. The
wrote to me before Christmas and put the price down again without me even asking!
I can't build enough motivation (based on the hassle) to move but I probably should!
Unfortunately, from what I understand, all BB providers deliver bad service!
Hmmm.... Virgin Media 50Mb Broadband??
Its Over Fibre.
How many residential properties are fed with Fibre.... Virtually None.
Certainly not available in my area, as I have just checked, and not available at my mothers in Central Cambridge (A big Internet place).
50Mb Broad band is quick.
50Mb over Fibre is an absolute INSULT to the Fibre. We were running 1.3GigaBit (non internet stuff) over fibre over 20 years ago. God knows what speed
they can do nowadays.
There are higher speeds available normally throughout Europe.
The Good 'ol UK is lagging behind as usual.
With the credit crunch in full swing, I cant see it changing much for a while.
Dont hold your breath!
I have been with BT Internet from their begining in 1995 and Demon (from when they started) before that. Its always worked, and been reliable. Its not
the cheapest, maybe not the best. But overall I am happy with it.

Problem is at the local exchange with regards to the speed, we have a tripple bonded adsl line and although we we have 1.8meg upload we still only get
6.5 meg most of the time at best, once had 8.5 meg ( which is the max for the area ) although we were promised 24meg
all you can do is to get people to keep complaining about the speed, eventually the local exchange will get upgraded.
I had problems with PIPEX Too had been with then 5 Years...
Mine cost me £85 in phone calls from my mobile because I kept getting told you need department X not this one you will have to re-dial.......
2 Weeksof that Sh*t...............
Eventually Got a MAC code and left.

So I am just about to move house and i'm currently with pipex and out of contract thank god. Who would you recommend instead. The best
the've offered me is £14.76/month upto 8Mb with free weekend and evening calls...
Is now the time to change before its too late
Well I've gone with Virgin - can't get their super duper service, I live down an unmade road with just 5 other houses - they don't seem
to want to run cable down here never mind fibre optic!!! Best we can get due to distance from exchange is about 2.5 meg.
My whole family have had mobiles with Virgin for about 5 years & their service has been absolutely brilliant - just hope their Broadband
isn't like their trains!
The fifty meg is faster than most websites can deliver.
My buddy has been running the 50meg for a few months and it does deliver. Its still is on rollout over the whole country but we have got it here up
north of edinburgh.
Ive seen 47 meg off a server down in maidstone regulary.
Most pcs need the lan port sorted to take the higher speeds.
my Acer aspire is chocking it at 32meg till i can get a linux mod to the port.
But yes its fast however it comes with a price.
just called aol up to get my mack code seeing as i was on silver and 17:99 a month they put me through to retensions im now on the 20meg with free evening and weekend calls unlimeted downloads £6:99 bargain oh and a free wireless router off them bargain i say
Like a few others i was with pipex for 7 years, all was well until the take over with tiscali, since then their service is poor and over priced.
I Moved house and decided to put the new house on with be there linky
the new service was up and running in 2 days of placing the order.
More importantly as its an adsl2+ service you can double the expected down speed as given by bt.
Also one of the few that supply static ip at no extra charge, and its part of O2.
Thouroughly enjoyed telling pipex where to go.
