My 306 alarm has gone all French on me.....previously I had to always turn the internal sensors off before locking the car otherwise the alarm would go off, now it's got worse.
This evening the alarm went off and I could not stop it. About ten minutes of frantic plug pulling, starting the car, turning sensors off, locking and unlocking and two deaf ears later I pulled the battery cable off the terminal and it stopped.
I didn't try that first as I thought alarms have back-up systems and disconnecting the battery would have made no difference!
I then locked the car as normal (still turning the internal sensors off) and it was ok....until driving to my G/F's and locking it (in the usual way). Again it went off until disconnecting the battery again.

It is now locked without the alarm by using the key in the door but does anyone have suggestions why it is doing this and more importantly how to fix it?!

I did wash the car today but nothing excessive and I didn't use a pressure washer so can't see it being a water problem as it was sat for hours after washing......??

Two things spring to mind


(1) check your car battery isn't losing charge due to a dead cell ie do a cranking voltage test.
(2) earthing fault

surely if it 'went all french' on you it would just stop working all together and go on strike?

SWIMBO's Pug started exactly the same, alarm refusing to set, going off randomly. Then the battery died and it wouldn't start again. Replaced the battery all fine since.

Ok thanks, I thought the battery was a good 'un but I will have a look.

Would the fact that I have to turn the internal sensors off all the time be battery related?? Or just over sensitive sensors?
