I've always loved the real Lancia Stratos - don't think I have the time, money or building space though, even for a lovely kit like that...

It's not me who is looking to build one, although I'd love to. One of the lads at work is seriously thinking about selling his 911 and putting a Stratos together.

I remember speaking to a guy at larkhill who was surprised that I new it was a kit car.
He had spent over 27K on it including 3K on paint and it was the business, he said it was a swine to put togeather and had to source parts from far and wide but the end result just turned heads and that was in the car park.

After about 40mins he wanted to know how I knew it was a kit car, I said I could not tell but if it was origional mine would have an armed guard and not left on it's own in the car park.
There was nothing to give it away outside only a look under the boot/bonnet and the dash give a clue.
If you want to turn heads and be kept talking this is the car.

After my Viento the other cars I would build GT 40, Ultima or the above.

I was at the Italion auto festival at the brooklands museum a couple of years back,one of the HAWK CARS stratos copies was there thrashing around on there made up track on whats left of the runway.
The driver had driven an original at some time,he remarked on the copy as being better to drive with far better handling.
