1996 BMW 518 Head gasket failure.
I have no problem or fears tackling the job but are there any particular things to watch out for on this model.
Or things to change while I am in there.

heads are prone to cracking on these,renew the stat while your at it.
heater hose round the back of the head is a pain and there is a breather hose below the inlet manifold,its push fit and as you dont need to disconnect t you may miss on re-assemble,leave it off and idle will be about 3000 rpm

and when its back together,fill with water,undo bleed valves and let it bleed itself,dont start till all the air is out.

look between the bore and water jacket on no 3 &4 also weak antifreeze can cause corrosion.
eurocarparts used to do recon heads at a reasonable price
