Kill everyone else standing around and steal the money

you will lose in the end. There are no systems, remember that bulls*** baffles brains. The more odds and spreads there are, the more it hides the fact that its simple numbers with a 1 in 46ish chance of no one getting anything.

Bet small!

eznfrank - 14/2/09 at 05:48 PM

There are certain ways to bet that will significantly prolong the inevitable but they generally are low payouts compared to the total wager.

Unless you get real lucky it's a no win situation - good fun though!

Mine is not to play.....

Brothers is to wait till they get a new croupier and then watch. After a little while he thinks the croupiers get into a rhythm & then he starts to play and trys to use that knowledge to put markers down in the right area.

If i do play (and when i do, i go expecting to lose) i play thirds of the table or Odds / evens.

If you think about it, you can put something down on 2 or the 3 thirds of the table and still make a small amount of money if you win. Obviously the wheel is set up so that the house never loses (if you bet on all thirds you lose money + you've got the house number you can't bet on which could come up and everyone but the house loses).

Roulette is the classic casino game. It simply isn't possible for the casino to lose, which is the same as saying it isn't possible for the punters to win.

There was one theory about putting money on one colour, then if you don't win then double the bet, then double again, and eventually you must win

(except roulette has a zero)

Odds are always stacked in the houses favour.

You can alter your betting to make sure you don't lose, but you need a massive pot to cover a losing streak and it's just no fun. Basically stick to the even money bets, and double your bet every time you lose, e.g. bet £1, lose, bet £2, lose, bet £4, win puts you £1 up. But a losing streak of just 10 goes means you have to be putting down £1024

If you play Blackjack you can put the odds very slightly in your favour (less than 1%) by playing to what is known as basic strategy (knowing when to play and when to stick), and can increase the odds a further 1% or so by counting cards. But then casinos tend to chuck you out if you can't hide it very well

How did it take me 6 minutes to write that?

i had heard this theory, if you bet £1 on red and then black comes in, then you bet £2 on red an the next turn, if you win then you get £4 back making a £1 profit (as the total amount you have put down is £3) as the probability of several identical colours decreases the probability of you winning increases.

the probability of getting 10 identical colours in a row is 0.3% plus when you get to the 10th bet you have actually put down £2047 to win £2048, mind you i have seen 11 evens on the trott before!

blakep82 - 14/2/09 at 06:16 PM

only ever choose red or black. 50/50 chance, so return is small. always double the bet if you lose. 1st bet - £10 on black, if you win, great. if you lose you bet £20 next time, if you win great and if not bet £40 the next time. until you get bored or break even or win. as far as i can work outwhen you do evetually win you should break even at worst

but then i never played roulette. its a game of chance, theres no winning formula, and ultimately, you'll always lose

omega0684 - 14/2/09 at 06:28 PM

blakep82 no wonder you always lose! red/black isn't a 50/50 split. if you bet black you have a 48.6% chance of winning and 51.4% that it will be red or 0. remember there are 18 reds,18 blacks and 0, so to land a black you chance is 18/37. obviously the same applies if you bet red.

Yup, that's why it's not a very good idea. Add to that the fact that the minimum bet for even money bets is generally at least 5 times the table minimum, so on a 'cheap' table you're looking at starting at £5 and doubling from there

I can think of better ways of spending my time/spunking my cash

David Jenkins - 14/2/09 at 06:41 PM

The only casino game where you stand any chance of winning is blackjack, if you're any good. And, if you are any good, they'll chuck you out and blacklist you from every casino around!

The casino DOESN'T LOSE!

scootz - 14/2/09 at 07:23 PM

Remember that many casinos have a max bet, so bear this in mind if you start chasing a loss by doubling up!

you mean 'no wonder i never play!'
the only time i set foot in a casino was because i had a few hours til the first bus home sign up, free £10 bet, drink, food, put my free bet on black, lost, thanks very much, had a few drinks, went home

was that online?

24vseven - 14/2/09 at 09:19 PM

yes ladbrokes they have games where you can start at 25p but they have an upper limit on these of either £500 or£1000 tha others have no upper limit

if i was to play again i would set myself a upper limit of around £500 in my case i would have still been "up" at that point
i found i occasionaly got to £256 supriseingly quite often
as was prviously mentioned the only winnner ultimatly is the house

twybrow - 14/2/09 at 10:38 PM

Always bet 28.

MikeR - 14/2/09 at 11:34 PM

If you want to do this, follow a stock market system. Its called stop-loss.

Basically you set your current cash as your 'TOP'. Once you get a set amount below your 'TOP' you get out. So if its shares, you buy at 1 pound. It rises to 2 pounds, this is your new 'TOP'. If the shares rise to 2.50 - then thats your new 'TOP'.

Now you've set your loss at say 50% (which makes it easy). As soon as you drop to 1.25, you walk away. You've had your fun, game over & your still (through your early luck) up.

problem is we're human and we think "one more" and keep losing.

greggors84 - 15/2/09 at 01:52 AM

When I play blackjack I have a 'buffer' I might start with 5 chips and a buffer of 3 which means I will always have 3 chips on the table to bet. If I win and already have 3 on the table that chip goes in my pocket. I played for about 30 mins in the MGM grand in Macau using this system. When I finally lost 3 times in a row I walked away with £150 worth of chips in my pocket.

As said knowing basic strategy helps alot. The fact it was 5am and I was quite drunk didnt.

I avoid roulette as I have never taken money away from it. From watching it seems you need a cover lots of numbers with big piles to get anywhere and Im too big a pussy to bet big. In Macau we spent ages trying to find some cheap black jack tables just because I enjoy playing and dont want to lose too much! We ended up betting 100 HKD minimum (£10). Which is scary when £50 can go in about a minute!

MikeRJ - 15/2/09 at 02:26 PM

The Martingale system (i.e. starting with a small stake and doubling every time you lose) has a fundamental flaw, there always is a table limit and once you hit that you have lost a rather large amount of money (assuming you have enough money to reach the limit in the first place).

Unless you can stick a magnet into the roulette wheel there is no system to ensure you win. If there were, Roulette tables wouldn't be found in casinos!
