fuel sender calibration

now that the car is running i though i would take the time to calibrate the fuel sender properly, but i have come up with a little problem, when i set the sender from the tank so that the gauge should read empty, it doesn't, it reads about an 1/8 of a tank,i am using a race tech gauge and the fuel sender i got from DAX,could it be the fact that the sender and the gauge are not made by the same company?

how can i get the needle to sit on empty when the sender says empty?

HI bud,
Ive got the smae problem with the Dax sender, although Im using Hayabusa clocks.

Basically you need to know what resistance the guage needs to see when the tank is full and when its empty. Knowing these to values you then have to 'calibrate' the sender by either lengthening or shortening the float rod and using a DVM to get it somewhere in the ball park

Its a bit hit and miss and at the moment mine is missing by a mile!
