Just moved out of the house whilst the renovations take place. Moved in with the In-Laws (
), and they have no internet connection.
Went and bought a 3G starter kit comprising of dongle (great word!), SIM card and 12GB for £90. Each GB thereafter is charged at £10 a hit... is this
a fair deal?
I only ask as I've not investigated the market as I was just desperate to get back on-line!
Also, I'm on Pay-As-You-Go for my cell phone... am I just as well to use this 3G sim for my phone? Am I going to save any by doing that?
Probably a bit late now but if you're into mobile data, it's worth looking at what the contract packages are like.
Rather than a dongle, it's often more effective to get an HSDPA-enabled phone.
T-Mobile's and O2's prices are probably the easiest to understand.
Cheers - I take it that's a phone that can connect to your computer?
That's about right for the 12 GB package. Think after that you can top up for 1GB=£10, 3GB=£15
Watch out for the contract ones if you go over your limit, the price per GB is crazy, think one worked out at arount £1000 per GB when I was looking
at it. Only T-mobile didn't charge, they just restricts the speed if you did it frequently.
dont use you 3 broadband sim for calls and change credit to broadband as soon as you put it on !
Pay As You Go
- 3GB 30 days usage
- Mobile Broadband modem from £49.99
- Out of bundle usage charge £1.00/MB
= £15 for 30 days
if you leave credit on when the 3GB runs out it will use you credit at £1. mb so keep the balance at £0 .
I've had mine for 6 months and never use the home hub any more!
Watch for the Download limits!!!
Steve
I agree with all that's been said regarding overlimit costs they are not good!
We live too far from an exchange to get Broadband so have to use mobile BB.
I did have a Vodafone dongle but even after being told I could get UMTS I never have. Tried Orange dongle after we checked coverage and it works fine.
3GB for £15 per month including dongle (18 month contract). That seems plenty for us, only used 1GB in first month.
