how do you wire up the rev counter when using edis, does the edis give twice as many pulses to the rev counter as opposed to when not using edis?
hence does the rev counter read twice what the engine is actually revving at?
sorry, i have the caerbont automotive rev counter, just opened the back up and it has 6 little switches on a chip 1,2,3 & 5 are switched down and
4 & 6 are switched up.

i know nothing of EDIS but all rev counters have the ability to select how many pulses per crank rev are input into them. I think they call it lost
spark.
Mine is digital so i have to do it via a menu switch, but alot of the older ones have dip switches on the back of them to select all the bits.

Rev counter senses pulses to LT side of coil. If you were to do the same for one coil pack - assuming you have 4 cylinders, you will get 1/2 the number of pulses. If your rev counter can be configured for 2 cylinders, then all will be hunky dory. Other counters connect to ECU; these act on a 5 V signal - probalby. If you cannot select 2 cylinders, you can connect a doide to each coil pack and then to the rev counter. There have been posts on this I am sure

You need instructions or trial and error to set it up.
I recall EDIS will supply PIP which is
ignition event? I think that is 12 V signal, like to a standard coil, I would need to think about the 2x bit but reckon no adjustment is neceaary -
the coil pairs would fire at same rate, one coil firing unecessarily - wasted spark - but end result is the same. cheers for the link davie, mine is the older tacho (first link) i have set it to 4 cylinders (pinto) and the 5 & 6 switchs so that they represent a petrol engine, but the 4th switch in both positions does nothing, i have the rev counter pick up wire connected to the second output on the edis unit, cuz i can vaguely remember someone saying that that was the rev counter output, is this correct?
