Heating oil tank stop cock/shut off valve.

Does the heating oil tank stop cock need to be a special one for oil or will a water type on work?

Mines seized and the tank is currently empty so need to change it quickly before my delivery arrives.

The ones I have seen are full bore gate valves..... which are used for plumbing water....

I dont think they have any seals in them that can be damaged by the oil.... so that might be a good option... you can get gate valves that go up to around 70mm bore..

Best option is to find a local trade place that does oil tanks and ask their advice. Im sure my local plumbcentre does oil stuff.

something like this?

ok for water, oil, gas and steam!

That would have done it in a smaller bare dinojuice.

Got it sorted now. Plumb centre for the filter and go the tap freed off. Cost me a grand total of 3 quid for the filter.

Just need me oil to come now!
