We was sat talking with our 6 year old about rich and poor.
Mrs asked what does "rich" mean ?
"spend a lot of money" was the reply.
Whats the meaning of "poor" ?
"Lucys feet" was the reply.
Lucy been our dog, guess you had to be there ? Was a gem.
Now if your wife spoke like a Northerner, Poo-er, then there wouldn't be this confusion. Another plus for being Northern that

In Manchester it's just normal. There ain't any one word for not poor.
