Hi all,
My saab 96 project is moving forward very slowly and i want to kick it forward.
I have a Audi Coupe that i am transplanting the running gear from into the saab.
The plan i have is to cut the front engine bay with bulkhead out of the audi and weld it into the saab 96 in the back. this will keep all the mounting
points for the suspension and the strut braces.
This will require a fair proportion of cutting out of the saabs shell and welding in the audi engine bay. However I am not skilled at welding so i am
looking for someone who could this stage of my project for me.
I am willing to make it worthwhile as it will take a fair amount of time to do. If anyone who could do this get in contact I would really appreciate
it.
Many thanks
Tom
Isnt this called a "cut n shut"???

Just a thought - but maybe a better solution would be to make a jig to copy all the mounting points on the Audi shell , sit this under the back of the
Saab shell (after cutting away unwanted sheet metal...) , then build up a tubular structure to suite ?
Might be a lot easier than trying to mate Audi front inner wings to Saab rear inner wings..........
that may be easier, in that case if someone is willing to weld up that I would appreciate hearing from them.
I would want help making the jig etc.
I want to get this right as if its wrong then the car will be awful to drive!

Nothing illegal about cut and shut IF it passes an SVA and neither car is stolen.

Its been done on a number of cases, with engine bays from a saab 900 welded into the back of an uno i think. I can't remember the exact details.
Give Bernie and Lepu a ring
Sounds like a project too far if you can't do this part of the work yourself
