The credit crunch bites some hard
James - 16/3/09 at 03:49 PM

Went into VW dealer on Friday (I needed a couple of parts and haven't been bent over in a while! ).

Anyway, in the visitors car park is a 2007 plate Aston Martin Vanquish S.
I had a drool at it before going in. What are they, £160/180k?

Joking with the guy behind the parts desk about it being his company car. He said it's "that guy's over there" and pointed to a guy at one of the sales desks.

Apparently this guy was in there to trade the Vanquish in. They'd told him is was worth 2 Golf R32s!

So he was trading it in for an R32 plus the money.

What's a fully loaded R32? £30k? So an 18mth old car is now worth £60k tops!

Driving in in an v12 Aston and driving out in a Golf has gotta hurt hasn't it!!!

Poor git.

Cheers,
James

There was a thing in evo mag the other month about dream cars which are going to be bottoming out if they haven't already - bonkers some of them! Now, all I need is 6 numbers on the lottery.....

Round here Aston Martins, Ferrari's and Bentleys are the favourite mode of transport of VAT scammers .

What was he doing part exing it for a golf anyway? He could get a decent Jag XK for that money

Quentin 'Oily' Wilson recommends Bentley GTs - reckons they'll £25K soon.
Also Ferrari 456s.

Thats a rediculous loss.

A bloke i know was a sales manager in a landrover dealer. They had a bloke come in with a range rover sport that hed bought new a year previous for 69k. Hed borrowed all the money and took it in for a trade in. they offered him 25k!!! 30 grand negative equity on a car!!

Because he wanted a VW not a Ford.

One of the guys at our local Aston dealers told me they depreciate a grand a week! Had an Aston in a couple of months ago for it's 2nd or 3rd MOT and failed on corrosion ! No protection at all .

Aren't the modern ones (Vanquish, DB9, Vantage) carbon and ali?
I'm probably mistaken!

James
