Must say mines a total dog, no power at all at low revs. Burns a litre of oil in 100 miles if you do 80 mph.
whats your rev limiter set at, and what engine? Mines 4k revs, but whilst reading up on engine trouble, it seems some people think 4k is limited?

Sounds a bit dodge to be burning a litre of oil in a 100 miles, worn piston ring?
1.9cdti injector seals gone ,pull the leak off pipes and find oil instead of diesel around £400 to get a set of injectors sorted common fault and
thats where your oil consumption is coming from,affects a lot of vectras too
Got a few in work, excellent vans.
They don't use much oil and they're no dogs ! I think yours may be fuct.
mine revs to 4k
unfortunatly its also limited to 70, which means 5th and 6th gear do nothing
I've had mine 7 years.
Overall very good

Weve got loads of them......cant say Ive ever heard a good word about them.
On the limiter front ....The new transit is limited to 70 as well so big brother can have his way..........
my old sprinter got 103 once 
and that was after 210k miles.
