Its Gone.....

My enthusiasm for the car build that is, just can't be bothered getting on with it, its only paint and final assembly now.

Not even the thoughts of summer and driving it spur me on.....

give you £ 260 for it.

dan__wright - 27/3/09 at 10:27 AM

get someone to take you for a ride in theirs, should bring it back! since the first drive to sva ive been desperate to get it on the road.

the first weekend of having it registered and working (last weekend) was ace, warm and sunny (about 20c) out for a nice blat, couldn't stop smiling!

Hi Pete what r u building?
Keep going,It will be worth the effort

tegwin - 27/3/09 at 10:40 AM

Lock up the garage for the weekend and do something else... come Monday morning you will be gagging to get back at it

Your nearly there... push past whatever technical issues is stopping you and the rest will be fine

jabbahutt - 27/3/09 at 10:48 AM

I agree with Tegwin. Walk away and do something else it's amazing how quickly you start to miss working on it.

I know how you're feeling went there a few times during my build, luckily the good people here posted encouragement and pulled me through the negative feelings.

iscmatt - 27/3/09 at 10:49 AM

i can never comprehend why people start to feel like this. You have put in ALL that effort to get to where you are and then you decide you can't be bothered. Imagine how much time you have wasted if you just get rid of it?! Sometimes you can come-a-cropper on an issue, i know i did, i posted most of them on here! The idea of getting it onto the road, for me, was all tht mattered and i just kept going, knowing if i did a little bit each day the car would be finished and i could go and enjoy days like these

<----------------

You can't jack it in now! get assembled and painted and then go for a drive, you may end up kicking yourself if you sell a car so close to completion!

All the best pete, hope you do get back into the mood of it, it WILL be worth it!!

r1_pete - 27/3/09 at 11:15 AM

Thanks chaps, think I'll just leave it alone till the easter weekend and spend that long weekend getting it painted, its all primed up just needs final flatting before starting the topcoats.

Couldn't bring myself to sell it mind, too much time and effort gone into it.

Its an MGB running a Zetec on bike carbs:

I started in 2000. Thought about giving up a number of times.....

don't.

currently loving working on the car. Even got my dad involved (which helps motivate me as i feel guilty if i've not done stuff i said i would).

Just find something else to do for a while. You'll come back to it

dave1888 - 27/3/09 at 12:55 PM

Get yer finger oot and get on with it.

Jumpy Guy - 27/3/09 at 01:28 PM

I stopped for nearly a year

just couldnt be bothered. So i locked the garage and did other stuff

Then, one night, bought some beer. Put on a CD. Started again....

Just waiting for a new SVA date now.....

iank - 27/3/09 at 01:51 PM

As it's 'just' an engine swap (looks a very nice job assuming you're PeteC on the blog) and therefore shouldn't need SVA/IVA I'd go and get it MOTed as the next job.

By that point it's legal, known safe, insured and drivable with just the paint and a few bits of trim left to be finished off.

splitrivet - 27/3/09 at 03:16 PM

Same thing happened to me 18 months ago its only just lately with the advent of IVA that got me to pull my finger out.
Strange how it occurs when your practically finished though, I think its a case of familiarity breeds contempt.
Cheers,
Bob
