Tyres, slightly bizarre
Ninehigh - 12/4/09 at 02:56 AM

Fixed the pulling to the left problem. Got the subframe sorted, then the garage had left the back wheels with 2mm toe out! Got that all aligned and they said it was the tyres really causing the problem.

Anyone else heard of this?

what car?

new vectras mondeos etc are prone to it.

It may well be that the subframe and wheel alignment problem has caused the tyres to wear unevenly which after alignment has been corrected may still be causing problems.

I came across a Bedford Midi once that always pulled to the left, until, one day we balanced the front wheels on the vehicle. Go figure that one.

A mate changed the tyre on his Fiesta and when he put it back on it must have been slightly on an angle as it pulled to the left quite badly. Pulled the wheel off and put it back on and it was fine.

Im guessing the extra resistance caused by wheel imbalance or worn tyres causes the car to pull to one side.

Same problem on a montego the wheel wasn't sitting squarely due to rust build up in the centre

if one side tread is worn more than the other it will do it aswell.

Yeah was just amusing that after all that the tyres was the last thing...
