A Long Shot 'CDF'
The Baron - 18/4/09 at 08:16 AM

I am a mechanical CAD designer by trade, but would like to expand into some aerodynamic type ie 'Computational fluid dynamics' work.

Can anyone recommend any commercial applications (freeware, if possible but I know this is a really long shot) / books / sites etc which will give me some good knowledge & information on this subject?

Cheers,

B

Best place to start would be an add on for your CAD package, eg Solidworks has CosmosFlow. While it might be basic it'll be the best place to start with few variables. As for freeware, i'm guessing it'll only be free if it's moody on a download, i can't say i've found any.

Other than that, you need to be pretty hot on aero, so if you're not have a look at some aero books. Have a look on amazon.

F1technical.com can be good as it has articles on the latest updates for the aero designed cars, at least giving an insught into what things do.
