We've been to Traffex at the NEC this week. It's the Trade Show where safety camera manufacturers show off their wares to buyers and so we got to see the next generation of hardware.

Speed Check Services launched SPECS3 at the show. Building on the first generation it can monitor multiple lane and can be linked to other installations to form a mesh of average speed cameras that could track you over a very wide area.

Truvelo were demonstrating their digital upgrades and new cameras that can operate in front AND rear modes at the same time. And SERCO/GATSO were showing off their digital models complete with dual Car/HGV detection settings.

It could get even more expensive to venture out in the car in the near future! More on Traffex below.

So you blat for 1/4 of a mile, pull over and have a cup of tea then carry on!
Whatever system, they have their flaws.
I live in London, so the opportunity to speed doesn't come up very often.
After 26 years of driving, the best place to get speed out of your system is on a trackday.
I hate speed cameras, but I also hate people with no self control

Thats the worrying one though. How often do you cruise down the motorway at 80 - 90 because its quiet and the conditions are good.

Im all for keeping the driving aggression for on the track but this is different to cameras in black spots and dangerous roads but this could eventually realistically link all the motorways together.

All you need is a camera every junction with a wireless transmitter to a central computer database.
