New motorbike test ?

Started today apparently ?

Just been on our local news of the four that took it today, one is in hospital having pins in a broken arm, another had to attend hospital with the other two failing.

Seems you have to complete a course at an average 30mph, trouble is its peed it down today and this is not taken into account ?

that's bl00dy stupid of the examiners then
and it will have been slippy due to recent dry weather too.............

It's not the whole course at an average of 30 mph, but a couple of specified manoeuvres at specific speeds are incorporated. See here for the full info:

I squeezed my test in last year as I wanted to avoid the unpleasantries of the new test... It is all perfectly doable if you have a reasonable amount of experience which lets be fair, you aren't going to get on a direct access course!

Yet another example of the british government trying to make something too hard to be able to do to stop people getting on the road.

I squeezed mine in just before they brought in direct access...

*However* I have no qualms about them making the motorcycle test hard.

On the other hand, I stopped going to the local Advanced motorcyling club as they advocated going round blind bends on the wrong side of the road. Positioning yourself in the middle I could understand. But on the wrong side of the road with potential oncoming traffic with a closing speed of 100mph+ was a risk I was unwilling to take.

I failed mine in Elgin in about 2001 for not making progress. The examiner said I pulled up at Halfords roundabout behind you (in a car), I looked right and the traffic was clear so i set off and nearly ran into the back of you! I said I was just letting the car past and i went and if he ran into the back of me then he wasn't looking forward and he would pay from his insurance. To which he said ahh but you'd pay with a broken arm or leg! Crackpot.
I gunned it on the retest and tried to lose him and he shot through reds trying to keep up. Crazy driver!
Oh, here's another crazy one. On my artic test, I was pulling onto a motorway and indicated to leave the sliproad. The examiner said I didn't need to indicate as the sliproad became a lane in itself and then instantly failed me on that!What's wrong with being safe!
