LDV is owned by a Russian Gazillionaire who could fund it if he wanted to. He tried to get money out of the Government, citing the Economic slow down. They told him he had enough money of his own and didn't really need a loan. Is it sour grapes? Why would you let a going concern go into administration when you could keep it going and sell it for its market value if you didn't want it?
I drove several of thier vans for years, they totally suck, give me a transit anyday
unfortunately for years they have turned out rubbish vans, the later ones used transit oily bits but they were still rubbish, when you can buy a
comfortable, quiet, stylish van for the same money why would you buy a donkey....and have you seen the price of their spare parts
To my certain knowledge they have been hovering on the brink for years. Their production facility left lots to be desired - no wonder their vans were
crap.
In contrast I drove a VW Transporter over this last weekend.
Talk about spot-on - 2.5 turbo diesel, six speed auto with Sport mode and took nine adults plus luggage no problem. Clocked up best part of 1000miles
in three days - no problems.
Cheers, Pewe
