Now that has got your attention you dirty dirty people I have a question!
I'm applying for lots of jobs in Manchester, but living in Liverpool I'm aware that the traffic getting there is going to be a bugger.
I am an experienced motorcyclist, I've raced, ridden for years and whilst not the fastest I'm sensible and safe on the road. So I'm
considering the commute.
I have decided to buy an ST1100 in white, a yellow jacket and a white helmet on the basis that people spot coppers, especially idiots on motorways,
and whilst I don;t want them to get out my way, I want them to be aware of me and be looking out for me.
What are your thoughts?
Obviously I won;t have POLICE or anything on the bike, no blues and twos, I'll just give the passing appearance of a police motorcyclist in the
rear view.
Will it work getting me noticed and thereby make the commute safer?
I;m not one of these bikers that squeezes between lane 2 and 3 at 90mph, I just want to progress well, but safely by being spotted by dopey car
drivers.
I see a chap around my way who has a (same model as) police bike.... covered in flouresant yellow chequer.... he also wears "police" style
flouresant clothing...
IMHO.. he has gone way over the top and I believe it actually has the opposite effect!
But done subtly... yes.... sounds like a good idea.. Just dont follow people and put the feer of god (police) on them :p
Personaly i think people who dress like that are F****ng idiots

You'll have problems with people suddenly braking in front of you all the time. My mate at the bike shop was road testing a big white BMW and came back cursing it because of the effect it had on traffic.
Just ride as if everyone were trying to kill you and you'll be fine. Having your headlights on is the best way to be noticed although it does wind me up when bikers ride around on fullbeam. Dressing up as the BiB will get the wrong sort of attention.
Yes it will sooooooooooo slow you down.
Quite simply what happens when people in front of you see a cop car on the other side of the motorway?
They slam on their brakes like the only reason they have stopped someone on the opposite flow is so they can stop all the speeders going the other
way.
No! being a pseudo cop is not sensible
find a construction worker, indian, pirate, whatever. job done YMCA
no, really, don't though, coz you'll only annoy people
Just write POLITE on the front of the fairing.
Buy an R1.
Swerve through the traffic and wheelie away
I am not a manic rider either. Stick to all the limits and will stretch to 80 on a good bit of national limit, but I was riding one of my favourite
roads (which is a good back road with lots of sweeps and dips in it) a while back and I started catching a big white BMW bike with someone wearing
fluorescent jacket and white helmet and I automatically dropped to the same speed and kept a good distance (even though he was only doing 50). I all
of a sudden lost all ability to spot an overtake point and ended up riding behind him for about 10 miles cursing him.
Turns out he was going to the same bike shop as me and was a top bloke, but for those 10 miles I hated him...
I think looking like a copper will get you noticed but will probably hider your progress.

lets face as a biker myself for the last 20 years its they dont see you and if they do they dove give a s**t ,you need to remember theres not much brain needed to drive a car.
