A little update
NS Dev - 6/5/09 at 07:12 PM

Our company, Retropower, is now in business, and in fact the first 2.8i capri will be arriving for its rebuild tomorrow evening. Its even from a locostbuilder's family home, just to keep it all close to home!!

We also have a few "interesting" projects waiting in the wings, one of which, if it comes off, I will canvas opinion on here about, as its a bit nuts, but as my brother put it, there's plenty of nutters like us out there!!! Dare not mention it yet in case somebody else buys the base car!!!

In case though, anybody know of a really good 3.9 rover v8 with ALL ancilliaries and auto box going for sensible money? I think a rover or chev would be the only engines to do the car justice!!

The beginnings of our website ate there but very crude untill we get more time and more photos.

www.retropower.co.uk

The unit is pretty much there, all the 3 phase power is in, 2 post lift aquired and fitted, nice hydrovane compressor in which should run the shotblaster ok, which incidentally will be able to do panels subframes and wheels etc. Planning on using either glass bead or steel shot and chopping and changing between the 2 blasting pots I now have.

Need to build a spray booth at some point but not the biggest problem on the list.

All in all, going ok.

Now if anybody knows, sees in abandoned state or otherwise can tell us anything about the whereabouts of any "interesting" 70's and early 80's cars, in recoverable state and for sensible money, that would be really useful. We can breathe life back into them as daily drivers if need be, with modern engines if required, as ridiculous as imagination and chequebook will allow!

cheers

Nat

You want to be talking to the banger racers and local farmers as you would not believe the cars I see when out and about with work.

I watched a guy take a very big hammer to the front wings of a 3.0L capri that had never seen a welder before. Its life span was going to be one or two races
He has a yard full of "interesting cars" that will see the same demise

Arghhhh noooooooo!!!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement all!

Although capris will probably we staying standard, a lot of what we have planned will probably upset purists who like to show standard cars.

My brother and I firmly believe that the time has come when people are feeling like sticking two fingers up to "normal" cars and betting something in some way politically incorrect, as well as cool.

Will keep updating!

We used to use some scaffolding poles built into a square with plastic sheeting tied over them for a bay. We used to put a car in then put a heater blowing in for half an hour, switch it off and spray the car. It worked for us for a few years. Good luck Nat.

right, an update on the interesting project!!

We have bought a 1973 Vauxhall Victor!!

Its a 2 owner car, 33,000 miles from new, totally rot free, almost like a brand new car!!

It will be on the receiving end of some significant modifications before being auctioned, in a "wrecks to riches" style...............

I am pretty nervous, as the market for such a thing is pretty small, and the owners club will be out to lynch us, but I see it as a way of making a really rare car very useable!!
