Speeding fine website
James - 22/5/09 at 07:04 PM

Guess what, me too.

46 in a 40, sigh.

One day I'll learn to get up on time and not rush to work.

Utterly, utterly broke, finally got myself some work (got made redundant a while ago) and I've so far spent more than I've earnt. What with the speeding fine and the parking ticket I got for parking in the staff car park and not being told I had to register.

It's my first ever speeding points. Will it have much effect on my insurance? Presumably it's £60 fine and 3 points right?
Thank God I already renewed my insurance!

What's the website... pepipo? Just in case I can find a way out!

Cheers,
James

Its a bit more expensive but one of our drivers got cought and had the option of a driving course (£110 iirc) but may work out cheaper in the long run as it doesnt affect your insurance.

I'm so annoyed about the whole thing (can only blame myself) I'd forgotten about that driving course thing.

My friend just did one.

Hmmmm.

With two lots of insurance to pay for that's got to be worth doing I'd guess.

Having never had points before in 14 years of driving I don't know much about the whole process!

You still have to tell them, and they have to be added to your policy, meaning they could put your premium up and ask for more money

If you dont tell them, it could invalidate your insurance.

Don't worry, three points shouldn't make any difference to the cost of your insurance.

Agreed, 3 points won't make any significant difference. I had 3 point added back in 2002 for doing 72 in a 60 and I don't think it made any difference. My insurer at the time (esure I think) said that so many people have 3 points these days that it is almost "normal"...

HTH,
Craig.

i think if you say you will go on the speeding course you get the fine but not the points!

It's not a "fine", you pay for the "course" and the insurance company don't need to know.....(you have been "re-educated" not "prosecuted" ) however, they do have to offer the course first.... only then can you decide wether to accept it.... (yes I did the course... boring and fairly in-accurate)
