on the way back from the pub where i met up with a few fellow locosters. was approaching an island on the eastern by-pass when i depressed the clutch
to select 3rd for the island i suddenly lost all power, steam piling out from the bonnet, oil in the road, OH S**T
rang the plod to tell them there was oil in the road and then waited for my tow home
BIG THANKS to Reman for coming to save me!!!!!
we had a quick look at the engine in the garage, obviously no oil as it was now all over the road, but starer motor and NS of the engine was covered
in oil, got spark but looks like no fuel, engine turns over but doesn't fire and plugs are bone dry
will know more tomorrow,
humph, sulk
Sounds like a good excuise for an engine upgrade

Oh crap, there's nowt worse that
breaking down.It happened to me a few weeks ago
when my fuel pump packed up,i had to to get towed
in through the busy town centre.I felt a right pratt.
Good luck with the fix, hopefully it will be nowt much.
Andy
Hope you get it sorted
you've not got a std mechanical fuel pump have you?................
N/S covered in oil plus no fuel sounds like it could have detached itself?
ahh just read engine spec, that'll be a no then! sorry!
Strange for a clutch depression to do all that......
It's all part of the fun
I lost my gearshift on a long drive and had to do three round-abouts, speed-bumps and a set of traffic lights all in 3rd!!! The scary bit was the
round-abouts (after all if the traffic light hadn't changed from red there was no way I was going to run them)- you had to time it just right to
shoot between oncoming cars to get across without hitting anything (couldn't stop cos I'd never get it rolling again!!)...
Depression can do funny things to you, you want some Zantac fuel additive.
Hope you get it sorted without too much trouble or expense.
bummer.
on the plus side, stem seals are on their way to you - sorry for the delay, Mrs lost her job last week so have been a bit distracted.
