What did you do this bank holiday ?
clairetoo - 25/5/09 at 09:50 PM

I had fun in the sun ............ pulled the injected crossflow out of a Fury (which was promptly taken away by staple balls ) , then set about modding the chassis , making a bunch of new chassis rails and then engine and gearbox mounts , and dropping the engine in !
Not bad for three days work

Fury engine swap

Any one else had as much fun as me ?

Not running yet though, should be this week

Thinking about it - 25/5/09 at 10:04 PM

Fixing the guttering and cutting the grass.

Not much fun

omega0684 - 25/5/09 at 10:04 PM

i spent today

trying to figure out why my car broke down, after i gave up on that for a little while attached newly painted sump onto pinto and strated to desgn a test bed stand for it to run on,

then went back to car,put oil in and tried to start, fired up straight away and then sat there laughing under its breath at me!

had burgers for dinner,

helped dad finish a new garden feature, will post pictures when fully finished

Wheels244 - 25/5/09 at 10:05 PM

Forgot to mention - you do need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to complete the fuel system !

kipper - 25/5/09 at 10:08 PM

Sat morning at work..........boooo.
Sat afternoon ,picked up a 4x4 sierra for breaking up as I need the steering collumn.
Sat night went for a meal and a few beers.
Sunday morning , went to Melbourn with the STM drag racing. Saw some awsome yank cars and did 4 runs as run what you brung, Got fed up of the long waits between the runs so packed up and went to elvington to watch the scooby day boys, there was also a drag bike meeting going on , boy those bikes go , terminal speeds of over 185 mph. Went home tired , went out for meal and some beers
Monday watched the formula 1 which I recorded, then BSB, then just lazed about untill bed time
All in all a good week end.
Regards Kipper .......AKA Denis.

big_wasa - 25/5/09 at 10:08 PM

Jasongray5 - 25/5/09 at 10:12 PM

Sat- Run to the sun!!! Wikid times drinking beers and watching oldschool dubs!
Worked the rest.... bad BAD times

adithorp - 25/5/09 at 10:16 PM

Sat'... I was tied up all day organising a cycle race.
Sun'...Started bad when my dog got attacked ("he's a bit nervous of other dogs" she says just before her dog went for mines thoat). So a trip to the vet to treat the cuts instead of a bike ride. Then went to work to make a new ally' air-box for the Fury. 3 hours later gave up and put the old one back. Claire, hurry up with the next "how to" update so I can make a carbon one.
Mon'...Lie in then round to my Mums to stitch a tonneau cover (half done but should be ready for France next week). Then it started to rain just as I was going to go out for a blat.

edit...broke my air nibbler on Sun as well just for good measure.

Wired up Megajolt and EDIS in a smart manner, fed wires around the engine bay, cut ali panels for centre console/prop shaft housing, waited for new master cylinder to arrive, and tidied up all the odds and sods in the garage!

eznfrank - 25/5/09 at 10:40 PM

I didn't get my zx12r fired up - booo!!

mangogrooveworkshop - 25/5/09 at 10:50 PM

Been on bloody call and the call outs were for vandalism on street based equipment. Feral kids

Chippy - 25/5/09 at 10:59 PM

Nice day so took the Harley out, (sod the car), and did shotgun, (together with 34 others), for a Harley trike taking a disabled young lady out for a jolly. Really nice time had by all. Got home and it p****d down, just lucky I suppose, Cheers Ray

Volvorsport - 25/5/09 at 11:00 PM

moped about after the debacle that was PPC in the park .

A1 - 25/5/09 at 11:33 PM

i ended up in singapore and they lost my luggage. spend monday working

Ninehigh - 26/5/09 at 12:01 AM

Work with the second most annoying person here... And to add insult this was a weekend (again) where I had to leave swmbo and child on their own, at night, when we could have had a good time.

I'd rather have the squits than be here right now

nitram38 - 26/5/09 at 01:54 AM

Car has been ready for two weeks for my DVLA inspection today so nothing to do.
Spent the weekend transfering DVD's to my Archos in readiness for my Maldives holiday in 8 weeks
Apparently the IFE on Monarch planes is rubbish.
Started night shifts on Bank Holiday, so home at 6am, up at 9am for transport to Wimbledon VRO.

bimbleuk - 26/5/09 at 02:22 AM

Due to an annoying vibration in the transmission I spent Sat swapping over a another diff. As I have to remove the bodywork and fuel tank I stripped it all off and did some mods to make it easier the next time!

Didn't completely cure the problem so yesterday I started on removing the engine and gearbox. I was using it to commute so now I've had to tax n MOT the tin top

Richard Quinn - 26/5/09 at 06:05 AM

I had my first legal proper drive out on Sunday. Before then the dash was showing 7.5 miles and 7.4 of them were on the rolling road and the speedo test at SVA!
I have only done a couple of miles as I am still waiting for my aeroscreen so the wind (and flies!) are a bit of a problem. Anyway, considering that the furthest I had driven it before was from the trailer to the SVA lane, I was quite pleased with it - Nothing visible fell off, temp was fine, no leaks etc. I will give it a thorough check before the next drive though.

Davey D - 26/5/09 at 06:11 AM

i had my stag-do on saturday. Paintballing all day unfortunately when i went to get into my car to go there in the morning some fucker had broken into my car, and pinched my radio and then went out on the lash on saturday night... Recovered on sunday, then worked on the car on monday

Rugby Sevens at Twickenham.

David Jenkins - 26/5/09 at 07:40 AM

Machined 2 pieces of hard PU plastic on the lathe...

Started with 1 piece about 4" diameter, 3" thick - now have 2 pieces nicely turned, plus 2 large rubbish bags full of yellow plastic string! Lovely stuff to machine - apart from the swarf, which goes everywhere, covers the workpiece and cutting tool so you can't see what you're doing, and is so full of static electricity that it sticks to everything...

Still - I think I've finished now...

Worzey - 26/5/09 at 07:44 AM

It really didn't go as planned.

My son (5 yo) swallowed a pound coin and we ended up in A&E

The X-Ray showed it was stuck in his throat Food pipe rather than wind pipe which was very lucky.

So nine hours in hospital and an operation later he's back home and running around like nothing happened.

The nurses give him a Teddy bear which has been christened "Sterling".

A very happy ending but it could have been much worse.

edspurrier - 26/5/09 at 07:52 AM

Cheese rolling. Watching, rather than falling down the hill.
Should be an Olympic sport

coozer - 26/5/09 at 08:02 AM

Sun bathing mainly, huge smile from certain football results, excessive consumption of lager and an hour or so measuring a Jago for my upcoming new project.

Yesterday, seed planting, trying to tie my grape vine up in the greenhouse at 47 degree's and more sunbathing...

One 20 mile dash out in the Vortx that is still filthy from the rain soaked drive back from Stoneleigh. I might think about a wash and polish for Newark, that's me tho not the car

motorcycle_mayhem - 26/5/09 at 08:18 AM

Filled out a lot of forms relating to the death of my father recently, he made it into the 2009 tax year so he's receiving lots of threatening letters. Quite sickening really.

Watched Jenson on TV, drank some beers.

Took a GSXR750 powered 7 around Llandow, a lot quicker than machinery that simply shouldn't have been slower.

snapper - 26/5/09 at 08:26 AM

Started the weekend early on Friday by dropping an oil cooler pipe at speed on the way to work.
Spent Satureday cleaning up the oil, repaired oil pipes, took car for drive, intermittent missfire, chase electrical problems, Sstureday,Sunday and Monday, no joy yet.

Dangle_kt - 26/5/09 at 08:38 AM

fixed up my bike that i'm going to commute on, so it has new exhaust, new bodywork, new seat, new screen and sorted the suspension settings.

its flippin ace now, deasd comfy, i just woft along. perfect for a long commute.

Daddylonglegs - 26/5/09 at 08:51 AM

Quite a lot actually......

Got rollbar fitted and seats trial fitted:

Engine stripped and started the cleanup:

And, bought some body work that fits much better than the stuff I'd already got (Thanks Jolson ):

All this, and still managed to keep the boss happy by finishing off building the porch

So all in all a good weekend. Starting to feel like I'm getting somewhere

Danozeman - 26/5/09 at 09:41 AM

Vindi_andy - 26/5/09 at 10:06 AM

Monday did some gardening and some mods to the car.

MikeR - 26/5/09 at 10:33 AM

Saturday PPC with mate and then in evening with new gf.

Sunday trying to avoid sun burnt bits and watching a friend complete a half marathon followed by pub lunch. Evening went to meet mates at pride and giggle at them all.

Monday went watching cheese rolling, then pub (met the man wearing the mankini!), then pub and then collapsed in a heap at home.

geoff shep - 26/5/09 at 10:46 AM

Can't be much room to dance in there!

Oh - and also dropped a piece of architrave that I was sticking to the ceiling round a new loft trapdoor. Obviously it fell adhesive-side-down and then slid down the stairs. White glue on the carpet on the top edge of ever step. Out with the soapy water!

aerosam - 26/5/09 at 11:09 AM

Saturday - work in the morning, spent the afternoon finishing off the filling and painting on my project BMW 540i

Sunday - Rubbed down and polished the panels I painted on Saturday on the 540i, then gave it a damn good wash (it's been off the road for 18 months and had moss growing in every panel join.)

Monday - work in the morning (oh i'm a greedy bugger when it comes to overtime) in the afternoon, spent some quality time with the wife all afternoon and went to the pub in the evening for a poker night, won a bit too!

all in all not a bad bank hol weekend, locost didn't get a look in though.

iti_uk - 26/5/09 at 11:23 AM

As far as work on the car goes - I drilled two counter-sunk holes and scratched my head a bit more about how to sort my sump.

Otherwise, had a dentist checkup (need a filling.. boo!!), had a mate come down from Liverpool, went to the Coventry Transport Museum and then lazed about on Monday.

Chris

wilkingj - 26/5/09 at 11:39 AM

Ahh I started on Friday to make it a long weekend

Friday:
Fixed the failed speedo. The retaining bolt was out down to the last couple of turns. Simple fix, but took ages. I ended up cutting an access panel in the passenger footwell.
You cant get a screwdriver down there let alone a spanner, socket or your fingers!
Made a new cover, and all fixed.

Went for a ride to test - All OK now.

Saturday:
Decide to change the oil in the gearbox, as the speedo unit had been leaking (not slightly!)
Drained the oil and it was caramel brown instead of red (Dexron ATF in a LT77 manual box). It had only done 5000 miles since I put it in the car (with clean fluid).
Now I read an article on the net of a chap who used white spirit and ATF mixed as a flushing agent. OK so I did that, and ran the car for 5 miles on axle stands (no loading on the gear train) to use the washing machine action of the box, and to clean the boxes oil pump out.
Talk about crap! The magnet on the drain plug had mopre filings than the first time, and the fluid was a dark brown / red colour.

So I refilled with a Flushing oil (change of colour) and flushed with anouther 2 miles on the axle stands.
That came out an opaque colour, but almost clean.

I refilled the box with some fully synth engine oil (an alternative to ATF) and took for a good drive.
It seems to be a smoother gear change than before. So another good job done there.

Sunday:
Didnt do a lot, except spent hours playing with low temp alli welding / soldering.
Was trying to make a swirl pot for the water. I got the central tube made, and need to finish the rest off now.
Watched TV and fell asleep.

Monday:
Went to the local bank Holiday Market (Its VERY Big).
Bought a pile of socks and jocks and nothing that I actually went to buy.

Got the rest from Maplins and Toolstation (new place opened in Cambridge right opposite Screwfix!)
Not the best of days.

Tuesday:
Arrghhh!!!! Back to work! The company is going to get rid of 15,000 employees. (about 10 or 12%)

Sat am lowered the front ride height, adjusted the camber to give more negative , fitted the quick rack and tracked it up. Pm took the other half shoping for her new tin top.
Sunday am adjusted the rear camber , watched the GP . Visited mum in the pm .
Monday am I also went to maplins in Cambridge followed by a visit to Screwfix and then Tool station. Couldn't be bother with Bourne market Geoff although some new socks wouldn't go amiss.

I can picture you drilling into the sump and then looking at it thoughfully, puts me in the mind of when Homer decided to steal the phone line

mistergrumpy - 26/5/09 at 07:19 PM

Saturday I didn't do much, too tired from Friday night but changed the front springs on my mums corsa. Wasn't too bad apart from a whacked finger when the spring popped.
Sunday went out on my bike with my brother and looked longingly at the car that I built and still isn't registered.
Monday morning went out on my bike. Came back and looked longingly at the car that I built and still isn't registered. Got a call from my brother later on did i want to go out for a bike ride so back out again but more downhill this time. Came back, had shower, went out to the garage and looked longingly at the car that I built and still isn't registered!!

Well my bank holiday has been the most eventful ever! On Friday I decided that enough was enough and left my wife. Spent Friday night drinking. Spent Sat going for a 15 mile walk and then having a BBQ. Spent Sunday morning driving my car like my a"%e was on fire. Probably shouldn't have done, but the roads were just soo dry and sticky. Then had the pleasure of a local beer and sausage festival with some good mates in the afternoon. Then on Monday I spent the day doing house work really.
So now I'm off to start a new life of being me again.
