Got a call to check out a noise from a car today. Smashing old guy who I used to work with, needed a car quickly following a non fault RTA so bought a
Clio from a local lad
(read 'boy racer' )
Unfortunately he only drove it round a car park and first proper trip revealed lots of noise over bumps.
Sounded off side and closer inspection revealed a seriously well worn ball joint and also seized caliper sliders.
Checks near side and the wole caliper was loose
Bolts cross threaded to the point of fubared and not clamping cariier and again sliders seized. Incredibly
there were also cable ties holding the outside pad to the caliper to stop it rattling as it was so far from
the disc.................
And to top it off it's had a new CV fitted but one without an ABS trigger ring.
How can people bodge such vital items, sell the car and still sleep

If it's that bad I think I'd be tempted to see what old bill have to say about it!!
basically they are sooooo stupendously clueless they don't even realise what they have done is dangerous
Never ever buy a car from a boy racer, they are the worst possible owners and the kiss of death for any car
have to agree with whippy here, i got a few boy racer mates and they don't even know what they are buying most of the time, totally clueless, they buy things just cuz they look good, but have no idea how to fix things when they go wrong!

Take it to the police, if its unsafe the lad will probably get his collar felt.
If he described it as in good condition he could be liable.
I would press for money back or a visit to the police.
Dont take it on the chin.
